I finally received my refund after 16 weeks for a flight that Royal Brunei airline cancelled themselves only to be charged twice for administration fees. They are blaming the travel agents for this, so now I have to wait further even though in my mind I should never had to pay anything in the first place.
My wife and I were due to fly from UK to Melbourne for 6 week holiday at the beginning of April. The flight was understandably cancelled. !6 weeks later we are still to receive a refund as Royal Brunei have not yet refunded the agent , Travel Up.[or so they say.] Not sure who is to blame but Royal Brunei wont talk to us so they are guilty by association . Be very wary of booking with this airline, or using the agent TravelUp.
We are frequent business travellers and we were meant to travel in March during the craziness of CV19. But like everyone else we had to cancel last minute. Contacting RB was a breeze. We spoke to the staff in Brunei and in Brisbane (Amanda) and nothing was a problem. They were all helpful and answered promptly our emails and phone calls. And we received a full refund without hesitation. And Amanda followed up late to check if all was ok. We fly business most times and I would more than happy to rebook with RB again as soon as the restrictions are lifted.
The tickets for our trip to the UK were booked directly through the Royal Brunei Airlines website, as we have previously done on several occasions. Unfortunately travel was not possible due to SARS-CoV-2 and we were contacted by ‘phone by Amanda from Royal Brunei Airlines to let us know that our flights were cancelled. Amanda explained our options and in a subsequent email sent the URL for the refund request form. We completed the form and have recently received our refund. We have always had very good service on our dealings and flights with Royal Brunei Airlines, and we will certainly look to fly with them in the future.
I was told at check in that my flight was cancelled. I would have to find a new flight they were not going to help in any way. At no time then or now have the airline communicated that the flight cancellation, or apologised for the way they treated their customers. In fact when I arrived back and contacted RB for my refund I was told I'd have to wait up to three months and would be charged an admin fee my refund for a flight I did not cancel. I was told I'd get charged $60 AUD but have found they have charged me $133.29. I will never use this airline again, such disgusting behaviour. They maybe cheaper but the cost of flying with them when things go pear shape is not worth it. Left me severely out of pocket with another ticket.
This is a great airline. The planes are clean, very good leg room for economy but what makes this airline stand above the rest is their staff and service. I travelled with 2 young childern and they provided us with a free hotel due to long transit and most of all they treated my kids as 2 little princesses. We basically had the staff fight over who would check us in and clear us for security. best of all due to it not being a full flight they allocated us a whole row of seats to ourselves. will def fly with them again!
Nothing like relaxing on the Dreamliner with happy, friendly stewards, great food, fabulous service and of course comfortable seating with flat beds for sleeping. The lounge used at Terminal 4 Heathrow was the Gulf Air Lounge which was luxuriously appointed, with loads of space and sparklingly clean. The Sky Lounge in Brunei for our transit was really clean and comfortable with delicious food and snacks. Would definitely recommend Royal Brunei Airlines - well priced fares and excellent service.
Amid the Covid-19 crisis, I was relying on Royal Brunei to get me back home to Australia. I checked the website daily to ensure my flight would be unaffected. RBA made a FB post announcing that flights from their key cities would continue to operate until the 22nd of March. My flight was scheduled on the 19th of March from Heathrow to Brisbane. Therefore, I assumed I would be fine getting home with RBA. However, less than 12 hours before my flight, after I had already checked-in online, RBA informed me that they had cancelled my flight and would only be refunding me $500. As a result, I had to work out another night’s accommodation in London and also find another airline that would hopefully be able to get me back to Australia ASAP. This has put me out of pocket over $2000!! I will never fly with Royal Brunei Airlines again in my lifetime and will tell all of my friends that they should boycott the company. The cancellation came about because Brunei decided it did not want passengers from London to be stopping over in their country. Disgusting. To go back on your word last minute and leave people stranded to figure out another way home is unacceptable.
Royal Brunei are good but if I had to make a suggestion, it would be to improve the quality of the food. I can eat most food but found the food shocking. The staff are friendly and the planes to Brunei were great... the Dreamliner. However, improve the menu.
Don't fly "stopover". Not worth the trouble to save a few dollars. The effort in changing planes, unloading hand luggage, waiting hours in terminal lounge, going through Customs & Immigration twice (exit & entry), unpack @ overnight hotel and additional worry re connecting flight "risk" (perceived or otherwise) is exhausting. First "landing attempt" @ Ho Chi Minh was aborted (approached much too fast), then circling above for half hour to reduce fuel load - no thanks - we thought we had all "had it ", not knowing then the "abort" reason. (Could have been failed landing gear, eh??? ) Being Muslim country, this Airline does not serve alcohol with meals, which are meagre & poor quality. Flight Attendants are not very "attendant". Would I recommend "stopover" again ? You're joking. Not bloody likely !!
As a disabled person traveling has its challenges. The staff of Royal Brunei Airlines from checking in to disembarking at my destination and on return flight were excellent and I couldn't ask for better. All were very friendly, courteous and most helpful. The flight itself was generally comfortable and uneventful. I was left unhindered while I slept and asked if I required anything on waking as I had missed a meal. The food was good and the options were OK. I will certainly look-out for more flights with RB if the future if the option arises.
A 7 hour flight was delayed by over 5 hours causing me to miss a connecting flight which I had allowed ample time to connect with & the airline is so far failed to pay compensation. Also on the flight were a number of "Reserved" seats which crew refused to allow passengers to use despite them being empty. Generally the organisation is not great. On flight to Brunei didn't commence re-fueling of aircraft until boarding time despite the aircraft having been on-site for several hours beforehand.
One of the best in its class airlines in Asia, friendly flight attendants and crew. This is the opposite of Cebu Pacific Phil. kidding aside, you must try to book your travel vacation using RBA specially when they have a promo. Food is great and very smooth fly.
We flew Royal Brunei Airlines from Melbourne to Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei where we had a 1 1/2 hour stop over before catching our 15 hour flight to London Heathrow. On our first 6 1/2 hour leg we had excellent service, the food was good and the flat bed seats with mattress and quilt were comfortable. The business class lounge at Bandar Seri Begawan transit lounge was small but very comfortable. Our flight to London again was excellent with good service comfortable flat bed etc. Food was excellent for an airline and served when you wanted it. The price was 2/3rds of a business class ticket on Emirates with service pretty close too!! Well worth trying them out!!
In so many respects the airline is great. The customer service in London did not have dedicated lines for Special Assistance, but my wife did receive personalized assistance and it was efficient and very helpful. The assistance given changing flights at Brunei was second to none! Cabin crew and ground staff were really good, and the plane, Dreamliner, was new and surprisingly spacious for economy. We took off on all legs on time and landed early everywhere. We prefer that no serving of alcohol is done.....everything on three legs was very calm. On the Melbourne to Brunei stage, however, three people brought theeir own gin and whisky on board and made a complete nuisance f themselves as they got more and more drunk, and spent seven hours clapping, whistling and whooping along to music videos. So maybe they should ban the alcohol altogether! Our reservation would be the fact that the airline is run and owned, I believe, by the government of Brunei who have confirmed their opposition to LGBT rights, with homosexual acts being punishable by death (stoning to death) under the sharia law system. It's barbaric and wholly unacceptable so despite the cheap fares and excellent service, how can we support and condone such a belief system?
I was looking forward to flying Royal Brunei however I was sorely disappointed. The seats were uncomfortable and although we were in the second row from the exit point we were unable to recline the seats. The plane was small and needs updating. I will avoid flying with them in future
We've used Royal Brunei on a number of occasions and it's consistently been outstanding value for money. Always amongst the most economical fare-wise on the routes flown, the standard of inflight service, seating comfort and meal options ticked the box for us. Royal Brunei is now our airline of choice. Highly recommended.
It was all very good if you are happy not to drink alcohol on a flight, which we were. Passengers settled down to sleep very quickly , which suited us. Food was very indifferent, in fact a big negative if food is your “ thing” in Business Class. I’ve had much better airport lounges and in flight Business Class food with other airlines. Very poor film choice in the entertainment section.
The 787 max Dreamliner was quiet with very little engine noise even though we were sitting to the rear of plane. The lighting was restful and the cabin was kept at a temperature that meant we didn't need to wear heavy clothing. We have taken many long haul flights with a number of airlines and I can honestly say this was one of the best. The service was excellent, with attentive and polite crew, who were pleased to help. The inflight meals were OK and importantly served at the correct temperature. We will se this airline again.
