Whilst this is an exit row seat, Royal Brunei sell it at a lower price than the centre and aisle seats in this row. There are two reasons I'd imagine. Firstly, the side of the aircraft takes up some of the extra legroom afforded by the other seats - there is certainly less legroom here than in a comparable exit row seat on a 777. Still just adequate for me at 5'11". Given that legroom in standard economy is good this may be no better than a standard seat if all you are after is legroom. For me exit row seats are more about being able to sleep up against the side of the plane whilst still being able to get up to stretch your legs without disturbing your row mates. If you are broad shouldered you will be very close to the bulkhead - which for me was a benefit as I could sleep with a pillow up against the side of the aircraft. There is no window here but if you recline the seat fully you will see a small section of the window in row 44 and get slightly more shoulder space. The seats on 787s are known for being narrow and being exit row seats the tray tables take up a bit more space too. I'm a large traveller (42" waist, 20st) and I found I had just enough space, and the seat padding was comfortable for long haul Heathrow to Melbourne. I was fortunate to have an empty middle seat alongside me as I'd imagine things would get very cramped if the whole row was occupied by adults. Overall I was happy with this seat and the service from Royal Brunei. They manage this flight perfectly in terms of food service. Outbound there was an evening meal served one hour into the flight and then the plane was darkened for the rest of the journey. Breakfast was then served one hour out of BWN - good attention to departure time zone and guest expectations there. For the BWN - MEL leg there was a single meal served on departure. So you'll have breakfast and evening meal in the space of four hours or so. Once again, plane was darkened after that and there was no drinks service to interrupt sleep. Drinks and snacks are available from the galley. My first 787 experience and overall I was impressed. My only surprise was just how cramped the bathrooms are - felt like much less space than on a 777. The ones at the rear have slightly more space than the ones over the wings. I didn't find that people congregating for the lavatories was an issue with this seat as you're tucked in against the side of the plane with the emergency exit slide housing in front of you. No risk of having your toes trod on in the dark here. As per the seat diagram this row is set well back from the bassinet/bulkhead row.
We flew 4th Sept 2019, the flat bed seats and service is great, the entertainment system is very very limited and the food is average. Overall good flights on a great plane.
Amazing, comfortable and lying flat to sleep is incredible. Staff polite, helpful & beautiful people that couldn’t do enough for us, will be flying them many times more
Great location for myself and my husband who has seat 52A. No need to climb over a third person when going to the toilet. Easy access to toilet. Extra room beside window area.
This is the second time I/we have used Royal Brunei and will use them again in the future. Well priced, good staff, seats just as good as any other airline and the food is o.k. too.
Excellent staff and service, quiet and calm atmosphere.
Great economy seats in this plane. Lots of leg room and even if the seat in front is fully reclined it's not too close. Great service as well.
I WENT TO DUBAI LAST YEAR AND WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE AND THE FOOD THEY SERVED.IM GOING AGIAN THIS WEEK WITH WILL ALWAYS FLY WITH RB IN FUTURE.WE BOTH HAVE BACK PROBLEMS BUT THE LEG ROOM WAS EXCELLANT. I HAVE RECOMMENDED TO MY FRIENDS AND THEY ARE USING RB TO GO TO DUBAI. 10 OF MY FRIENDS ALREADY GONE WITH THEM.WELL DONE
This was our first time flying with Royal Brunei. The plane was operated by the 787 Dreamliner. The seats offered sufficient legroom, and were wide enough for myself personally. Travelling with my fiance, I can say that she had no issues with the seat at all. Usually I find Airline food to be rather, dry and bland, but Royal Brunei served some great food. There was a choice of meals, between, Chicken, Beef and Vegetarian. (Being an airline from an Islamic country, there is no Pork offered.) A snack was served, followed by a meal. I had chicken with rice, and some of my fiance's shepherds pie, and in all honesty, I would have happily eaten another meal. Drinks were readily available. The entertainment system was good, loads of films to choose from, and something for everyone. There were games, films, Popular TV series, documentaries, and music. As the flight to Dubai was 6.5 Hours, there was more than enough to keep myself entertained, although I don't know if this is the case for passengers travelling beyond Dubai, on to Brunei. The staff were very pilot, friendly, and quick to assist. One thing I forgot to mention, was my screen crashed, so I had to use my fiance's in flight entertainment system to call a member of crew over. However, they reboot my screen and I was soon watching a film again. Our return flight was delayed by 3 Hours due to a technical fault, but the crew kept us informed. Royal Brunei handed us vouchers to visit a good few of food joints at Dubai terminal one. Despite the flight departing late, the staff remained professional, friendly and were quick to assist us. Breakfast was served two hours before arriving into LHR. There was a choice of two meals, although I can't recall what they were, nor did I myself eat. My fiance wanted to choose her meal, but due to popular demand, the meal she wanted was no longer available. All in all, despite a few hiccups, which I can't say were major, it was a great flight, with great staff, and I'd happily book with Royal Brunei again.
Great service very friendly staff , travelled economy from Melbourne to Brunei , then business class Brunei to London , That was amazing , the Dreamliner is my favourite plane , Flat beds were so comftable , slept most of the way , everything was kept so clean in economy and business The captain from Brunei to Dubai, was so friendly and happy , I thought , well if the captains in a good mood and not stressy he must be happy flying it So to sum it up , it was brilliant and I will fly home with them , and will defiantly fly with royal Brunei again
If you're tall your feet will be touching the bulkhead when the seat is in the flat position. In my case I was unable to stretch out fully which made sleeping a little difficult. In all other respects this seat is just as good as the others comfort wise.
Really enjoy flying Business Class with Royal Brunei. This seat gives you access to the very wide aisle so no trying to hop over somebody as you would have to with the window seat. Although saying that most of my flights are not full in business. Plenty of legroom, excellent flatbed. Staff very amenable and food when you want it. Lack of alcohol doesn't bother me and like others say if you have to have it take a small amount with you. Only negative I have is that I find the seats could do with a memory foam mattress for sleeping. I use the quilt and double it over and lie on it. Pillows are bigger and they will give you more if needed.
I flew the London-Dubai overnight. The leg room is huge but the seat is indeed to far from the window. There are massage functions buttons that do not work but they do not bother to tell you. So you end up trying them for 7 hours with no success. Apart from this it was a comfortable flight. The food was not that great (considering it was Business Class). Staff was very attentive and polite. They do not serve alcohol but you can bring your own.
Excellent all round service, staff very friendly and assisted in anything you asked. Will definately be flying with them again. Super cheap airfares are absolutely fantastic. ($999 Melbourne, Australia to London, England return !!!!
Flew overnight from Brunei to Melbourne. Center Isle seats are the best for a solo traveller - no one to step over you at any time. The flight itself was delayed several hours which was a bummer, but when in the air it is pretty hard to fault. The leg room is enormous, and when converted to a fully flat bed it is about as good as one could wish. The doona is particularly comfortable. The staff were faultlessly attentive and pleasant - food good without being great. The comments suggest that this seat could find the nearby toilet bothersome. This flight had 15 of the 18 seats full and I found no issue whatsoever with the toilet use during the flight All in all a very pleasant, not withstanding the flight delay itself, a very pleasant flight.
Great leg room, seat was narrow and I couldn't get the seat to recline. Cost $45 extra. Was worth it
Wow, we flew Business class from Melbourne to London & it was definitely worth the reasonable price. The service was amazing and the space in the business class cabin on the 787 was unbelievable. I could have stood in front of my seat and done the nutbush without banging into anything. The lie flat seats were very comfy with the fluffy doona and pillow and for the first time ever I really slept on a plane.I would have like a glass or two of wine but I just had a couple in the business class lounges in Melb and Dubai and wouldn't drink a lot on such a long flight anyway. Only one downside was about 3 hrs at Brunei airport which had very little to look at but they are expanding it so may be more there in future. I would definitely recommend the Royal Brunei dreamliner business class.
I did not like the automatically dimming window screens due to the fact that I was frequently disturbed during sleep by dimmed but bright sun clearly visible through the supposedly completely dimmed screens. I would much prefer the greater occluding pull down shutters.
I found our seeats to be great & the flight very comfortable
I travelled from London to Melbourne in February and used three different seats on the three legs of the flight each way. I did not find 11K to be a problem seat as the window is easy to view, being just a few inches in front to the seat but as there is so much space in front of you you actually have two windows at your disposal before the seats in the row infront. Generally I found all the seats excellent and the fully flat seats superb. The whole business cabin had a very spacious feel and I would certainly choose Royal Brunei again, even with the lack of alcohol!!
