I bought a last minute ticket on Thursday March 12, 2020, from Kyiv to JFK. Economy was priced at $650, premium $1220. I am SO glad I chose the more expensive option. There were only 11 passengers including me, so seat to my left (across the aisle) and right were empty. Seat was comfy and there was plenty of room overhead to store things. TV screen was larger than Delta's 767-300 1st class SLC-AMS. Service was friendly and meals adequate. The best part was there was a curtain in front and behind this very private space, so it was quiet and neither the galley or restrooms were noticeable. It made the 11-hour trip very enjoyable. One other perk, the doors are located immediately behind Prem Econ, so you are the 1st ones off the plane, even before 1st class, so you get to passport control before the other 345 pax!
The seat is close of galley but there wasn't much disturbance. The only issue is the white light above which was switched-on multiple times with other seats still enjoying the darkness for good sleep. I guess this was something done by crew.
For people taller than 1.80 m this economy class is a joke. Any flights longer than 6h will make you wish that you could take off your legs. The 3-4-3 configuration doesn't make things better.
The emergency exit seat was great, but it is definitely true that the economy class seats on this 3-4-3 configuration plane weren't very wide, even less so in the emergency exit seats. If you want to chose the best seat, A / K are not great options as the door has a bulge with the emergency slide inside. So you can't fully stretch your legs there like in B,C,J,H. For D-G it may occur that people try and walk around in front of you in order to reach the other restrooms. The map is incorrect in a way as the Galley before row 26 were actually restrooms.
Excellent business class seat. Huge amount of space compared to other carriers like Swiss, BA. If only yhe IFE was comparable too.
The seat was quiet wide, but the legroom was terrible. For the whole 9h flight I literally prayed for the passenger in from of me not to recline, because IFE screens can't be adjusted in the reclined position. So much fuss and so little in reality...
On flight to JFK it felt like I was in a "Cattle Car" on a 10 hour flight. Most airlines go 3-3-3 in 777 economy seating, but UIA goes 3-4-3. and front to back seating is tight also. Knees get crunched when seat in front of me reclines fully. It is sad that my E175 seat on flight out of JFK had more room.
