This is the wrong seat map for United Boeing 787-10.
We found the new Polaris seat to be disappointing. Although we only did Newark to Barcelona and back I found the seat at my shoulders fine when upright but too tight when reclined, same with my feet. I'm 5'9" and would have really hated this had I been bigger. Had to sleep on my side and it was uncomfortable. I looked at the Premium Plus seats and will opt for that next time.
I am 6’4” and very broad. I have to say i hate united’s new Business Class product. If i were 5’8” 120lbs it would be great. The way the seat and foot cavities are situated its impossible to sit comfortably. I have traveled many other business class options, and still find Lufthansa the best!
These seats are so much worse than the previous planes United flew, the 777-300ER. The Econ. Plus seats were 18.3 inches wide. Now the econ. plus seats are 17.3 inches wide. That's 5 1/2% smaller seat. And the aisles are much narrower, making it very difficult to walk up and down, which on a 10-12 hour flight is pretty important. Some other airline is hopefully going to come along and offer a reasonable experience at a reasonable price and take a giant load of business away from United. Hope I get to see that day!!!
Seats 8A and 8L along the windows have misaligned windows. You have half of a window from the row in front of you, and then half of the window from the row behind you. Most of it is blocked.
The new 787-10 has a large problem with all its odd numbered business class middle section seats (D & F). You are too close to the other aisle seat. Even with the partition fully raised, there is no privacy, and no shelter from noise. It is amazing how close your head can be to the other party when seated. Even numbered D & F seats do not have this problem, nor do window (A & L) in any row.
I disagree with just abut everything listed for this seat, although I would still avoid it for the primary reason that the entertainment monitor must be lowered for take-off and landing and taxing, so if you aren't done with the movie by the time you land, you can't finish it. The leg rests are worthless if you are taller than about 5'9. On the good side, the lavatory is NOT at all bothersome, as it is the Polaris class lavatory and there is a curtain dividing the cabins, so there is no passenger traffic or waiting to use the restrooms here.
EWR-LAX return in the new Premium Plus seat. Very comfortable; good recline, decent seat width and the foot rest/leg rest combo is great - although the amount of seat recline does mean that the added pitch between seats get fairly tight once the seat in-front reclines. Convenient small pocket in the arm with charge points for devices; New IFE is very clear and responsive. Added bonus is the large signature 787 window for those of us who like a view. Great product.
Despite being as technologically advanced as others have suggested I would like to add a personal comment that these new pod-style business seats are relatively narrow and therefore uncomfortable maneuver in and to access in and out, with a particularly narrow and awkward 'corridor' in from the main aisle. Apart from anything else the pod side projection contributing to this narrowness makes it difficult for all but the tallest passenger to reach the overhead bins immediately above the seat. Not a configuration I would choose in future.
So long as you don't care about a window, this seat is wonderful. Totally cut off from the rest of the aircraft except above, someone who wants privacy and peace in the premium section and quiet will love this seat. This 787-10 airplane is so quiet and the air is so clean that sleeping, watching movies, and enjoying a great ride you feel as if you are the only one in the plane. The seat fully reclines with any number settings on the way to flat. The inflight systems are the latest and best techno. I flew this part of our trip in total peace and quiet and didn't even feel the airplane land in Houston.
After 50 years of commercial flying finally took first ride on 787-10. The most incredibly quiet and sleek aircraft I have ever ridden on, including Concorde. Air quality and techno gizmoes the best. Especially the no-screen window that gradually darkens with buttons instead of a pull down screen. Each seat completely sealed off, fully stretch out flat, although somewhat of a CAT scan surrounding, cocoon-like feeling. Have to take off shoes to fully extend as the area above the foot pedestal narrows down. Infnite number of settings to flatten out seat, allows for muscles not cramping up in one position. Would not want to be more than 190 lbs or taller than 6 feet. Best and widest fully flat seats are still 747, don't know about 380. A very comfortable and especially in every respect a very quiet ride.
Experienced the new 787-10 and its Premium Plus. Seats are comfortable and well padded. The extra recline is ok, but the rows are close enough together that i doubt i would ever fully recline unless an empty seat was behind me. Extra width was noticeable. Upgraded food options.
First row of Economy Plus and the aisle seat is a target zone for every person walking by. Expect to be hit hard by the meal carts and have to constantly adjust the video screen. At least it takes the hit before your knee does!
