Reseñas
30C/30J are probably the second best economy seats on ET 777-200LR second to only 30A/L window seats. It seems to me that mainly seasoned travelers are asking for emergency exit seats on the ET long haul flights. Positives: - First row next to the galley means you are first on the meal service. - Excellent leg room. - The ET 777's have great adjustable neck-support which makes it easier to sleep (compared to e.g. their 787-8) - You wont end up next to a children under 15 are not allowed on emergency exits. Negatives: - You may risk having a child sitting to the right of you (30DFH) which is having a bassinet. - People walking past you may hit your feet. - Food-trolley usually wakes you up, as they cannot pass through if you have straight legs and are 6' 1 like me.
39C, 40C, 41C and 39J, 40J, 41J have less legroom (1-2in) than any other seat in the plane because of the curvature of the fuselage at the tail of the aircraft which squeezes the rows of seats.
Online booking started 36hrs b4 my flight. I tried to check 26 hrs b4 my flight but I was not able to get the seat I wanted, row 30. So, I settled for 36L. However, I was generally satisfied with this seat as well. It spacious and enough. Stretching my leg to the full is however impossible, that why I needed row 30.
I was very impressed with this aircraft. Unlike many airlines that squeeze a fourth seat in the middle section Ethiopian has left it alone with 9 abreast seating. This ensures that you have 18 inch width and 32 inch pitch which is really comfortable. Each seat has a personal touch screen with a decent number of movies and TV shows along with games. The toilets are huge compared to most airlines, especially in Economy. I would recommend this aircraft and airline. I'm impressed.
By using charm and my Star Gold card I was able to bag an exit row aisle seat which was fine except that flight attendants kept hitting my video screen with their food carts, seemingly oblivious. People queueing for the nearby lavatory was not the problem I expected, even though Ethiopian carries a number of first time fliers unfamiliar with toilet doors or inclined to thunder on them if they feel their need is greater than that of the current occupier. The food was miniscule in quantity with curious dead lettuce leaves masquerading as a salad, but the main course was ok otherwise. My main concern was cabin safety and the helpful crew's unwillingness to challenge passengers who stood up and collected their belongings from lockers on final or taxi, leaving them open and in one case walking to the door on final. This endangers not just the perp but other passengers and causes one to question their ability to evacuate a plane. I would say their charm and efficiency equals that of Kenya Airways crews but they do not inspire confidence in the safety department.
