Hong Kong Airlines
Bangkok to Hong Kong. We booked a flight with miles but had to pay # 60x2 EUR for taxes fees. We had to postpone our trip in November due to the events in HK and planned for February in order to stay within the limit of the validity of the ticket. But in February, nothing was possible and I asked for cancellation of both ticket, mentioning that I want to get my 13000 points x2 accredited to our accounts. Result: A credit of 54,04 EUR and very rude answer referring to strict booking conditions without any concern about Covid as if these people ignore the pandemic. Explanation about the credit can be get through the booking link, that not work. I sent a complain letter but after one week no answer.
During the outbreak of coronavirus I got stuck in HK for 7 weeks for not able to return my workplace in mainland China, my original flight from Haikou to ChangSha was cancelled due to situation in China, then situation was getting stable, finally I got the flight on the 14th. The HK airport was empty which I never seen before, 7 staffs in custom check point serving two of us was quite friendly & helpful. The flight was smooth, the air hostesses are friendly & efficient, no unnecessary cleaning moves during the flight. We went through temperature check and been asked few questions by Chinese custom after landed in Haikou. Finally we got our luggage and ready for the transit. Unfortunately we been told there were 4 Passengers in the same flight been checked with fever so all the passengers in this flight have to stay in Haikou for a 14-days isolation of medical observation, I m wondering how these 4 passengers were able to got on the aircraft with high temperature in HK? I had my birthday celebration in my hotel room with no expectation to be ended up to spent 14 days in Haikou, wonderful.
My wife & I flew Hong Kong Airlines from Bali back to Hong Kong. The ground staff was friendly but the Flight Attendants were unfriendly. My wife & I our Flight Attendants at two U.S. Major Airlines. For a 5 hour flight they only did one service. When I got my beverage the cup was only half filled. I will try to avoid Hong Kong Airlines in the future for travel. Going to Bali we flew Cathay Pacific they were excellent.
The gate staff is very helpful and accommodating. That makes a difference on long flights as they made adjustments on our seats and gave us passport advice. Nice seats help too.
This flight was cancelled by Hong kong airlines. I booked the flight via Travelgenia online portal. I was being told by travelgenia customer care on 30th Nov 2019 that I would get my refund within 3 months but unfortunately until today I couldn't get my refund.
I contacted HK Air after my US to Taiwan and HK flights were canceled by both carriers. I asked for a refund since it was not possible for me to take my side trip to Naha, Okinawa since I was no longer traveling to Hong Kong. I sent an email and explained our dilemma and the customer rep and manager only kept quoting policy. They were professional but seemed stringent on quoting that I had to be traveling from Mainland China for them to provide a refund. I must say the manager was willing to waive a reticketing fee for us, but the funds were only good until June 2020. The likelihood of us using the funds is remote. I had hope HK Air understood my dilemma and would exercise reasonable business practices instead I must eat the ticket and fees. In the future, I shall avoid this airline in the future. Please do not waste your time and book with China Airlines instead.
We flew with Hong Kong air in January. The flight was fine, attendants were fine but felt that the service was a bit slow. The food on our way to Bangkok was terrible. I had a beef dish that was almost all fat. The salad was inedible and the rest of it just ok. Both flights to Bangkok and back to Vancouver had no in flight movies that were working and for a 14 hour flight, it made it very long.
This is an indelible experience from a first time flyer of Hong Kong Airlines; it was 10 days after i received my baggage. From Pudong Airport i flew via connecting flight to Hong Kong then to Manila. Checked in our baggage in Pudong airport but when i reached my final destination; Manila, my vacation became a nightmare after i knew that my baggage was left by the airline at Hong Kong. Uneasy thinking that all my essentials where on it. After three days i received a call where they told me that my baggage will be delivered on that day, i thought the nightmare will be over but when i saw the luggage it was not mine. Imagine!!! they are not aware that luggage that they were giving me was not mine so i disowned the luggage. The nightmare continues, calling and emailing the customer service but it’s like i’m talking to a ghost no updates and no replies. I also sent a photo of my luggage for their reference and for them to easily compare it. After 10days of waiting, finally it arrived and when i checked my belongings, one item was missing. It was a Puma cap that i would give for my brother. I don’t know what kind of service does Hong Kong Airlines is serving, but i know this would be my last fly using Hong Kong Airlines because of delayed and unsafe baggage handling.
Extremely bad customer service from Hong Kong airlines. The captain on this flight is lacking a brain. Boarding gate agents wouldn't help. What a headache dealing with their staff. Captain wanted to close the gate at 840pm when the flight leaves at 9pm. Never again will I fly with this airline and I encourage everyone not to fly with them. What a joke they are. They simply don't care. This airline is a straight cash grab. They wouldn't refund my return portion of the flight either.
The service for this airline is terrible. I had called ahead to ask if I could check an item in my bag, and received a positive response on the phone, then was told at the desk I wasn't allowed to. I filed a formal complaint both on the phone and by e-mail, never received a response. The desk staff are rude, and when I asked for their names, they practically yelled at me that I'm not allowed to know their names and how dare I complain. Worst service.
This is an AIrbus A320. SIngle aisle 3 X 3 seats. The service on Hong Kong Airlines is very good and the operation is efficient. This aircraft is very basic. The seating is very tight. The pitch is short as my knees were touching the seat in front of me. The width is snug but ok. Remove all the mags and crap in the seat pocket, throw in overhead bin for a bit more knee space. There is no AV system, no monitors or headsets. Monitors drop down for instruction video and then raised. Surprisingly and as I have experienced on other HK Airlines flights, a hot breakfast meal was served. All in all for the 2 hour 20 minute flight it is tolerable but any longer and it would be uncomfortable to be in this aircraft.
Tickets were a mess when leaving Vancouver yto Hong Kong. Ticket lady had to reprint them and fix our seats even though I had previously paid to select my seat. While getting that straightened out, saw a notice that the online entertainment was broken for the 14 he flight. Got on the plane and they didnt offer a paper, magazine or anything with no entertainment. Food was pretty good but when I selected fish and got chicken instead. Asked for alcohol drink they said they had wine and no coffee for food service but later they were giving coffee and beers. Also made everyone sit their chairs up to eat before serving. I found out that they did have alcohol but I had to go to the back for it because if I rang the assistance button they rarely delivered. I was very disappointed and dissatisfied. On a 14 he flight you need entertainment, they apologized for it but then tried to sell us treats from their menu to compliment the non movie movies.
This is an Airbus A330. Wide body, 2-3-2 seating. This is a lot more comfortable than the A320. Legroom is very good and width is snug but ok. There is a seat back monitor but no AV system. No headsets. A box lunch was served for the late afternoon flight. Service is very good and plane is clean and there are more restrooms. Flight left Hong Kong late and arrived late.
Terrible. No working monitor for the whole 14 hrs flight. what do you expect your customers to do during the flight? you can't even sleep because the leg room is uncomfortable. the food served is not that good as well
got a business class ticket for 2100. great service and lounges! Plane is modern and seat configuration is good.
There was no entertaining programon the whole flight, no music, no movie, for a 12 hours flight was totally unacceptable. I would never had booked this flight if I knew there is noentertaining program on the flight!
I feel that they took care of the costumers and the aircraft inside was absolute wonderful, the food, It was good and the access fast.
We rode HK airlines thinking that it will be a good flight but no. I’ll start off with the food, we were served 2 hours after the flight and 2 hours before we land, take note the flight was 14 HOURS LONG. We asked for some snacks for my little sister(she’s 8 years old) BUT YOU YOURSELF HAVE TO GRAB IT from the back, my mom was in shock. Halfway of our flight, most of the passengers are standing up to grab their food. I went at the back to grab some water, i overheard one passenger complaining About whatever is happening and their answer Was there were only FOUR of them working and she’s going back and forth to assist everyone. Second, the TV was only for display. we were expecting that there will be some movies BUT NO. Third, the stewards aren’t really that approachable. whenever we ask questions, its like they’re annoyed.
The flight was booked by the group tour we are joining. Check in was uneventful and as expected. The flight departed on time and offers basic service. NO seat back IFE but overhang LED monitors but no sound connection in seat. The meal is so small like a snack. Fortunately I ate before getting on the flight as I expect no food served. After the initial drink service, FAs came back for water service every hour or so.
The hx068 to lax plane had us delayed for 3 hours after we got on the plane. The plane made a clunking sound when moving to the taxiway so we moved back to the apron. We deplaned after about an hour and moved to gate 217 from 201 and back to 201. They didnt even apologize fully and were annoyed to tell everyone what was going on. The first plane also had technical difficulties including the video and audio system (entertainment system) not working for the whole entire 13 hours, also the second plane was the same exact way (how is that even possible)?! There was no real sincere apology for it either. I asked for cup of noodles but they said they couldnt heat it up so they couldnt give me any... the person behind was eating it fine so why they said that I have no clue. The only good thing was no one sat next to me so I was able to fly lying down. I do not recommend this airline. I paid full price for my ticket and the plane is not even a budget plane so I expect it to be as good as any other international airplane. It was certainly a very disappointing experience.
