One of the worst seats I've ever experienced in First and Business. So disappointing. Make sure you take a window seat. In this center area, people walking by at your feet look in over and over and over again. No privacy. Everything else was terrific -- fantastic service, exquisite food, lovely linens. But, being in center was a huge mistake. And the floor shook whenever anyone walked by.
The aircraft aisle narrows by this seating making it difficult for other passengers to pass without knocking into the seat, grabbing hold of the back of the seat or even grabbing the TV screen. It is uncomfortable and dangerous for the occupant of the seat, and is not recommended especially as there is a charge for it.
85D is a decent economy seat however the USB charging port was inoperable, the tray table was duct taped together and the cabin temperature went from very hot (~90F+) to very cold (~50F) and remained cold for the remaining ~6 hours of the flight....crew could not fix it. You can hear the toilets flush but not that bothersome. Proxy to galley and toilets are a plus. A380 is very quiet inside....clearly the quietest cabin I flown in.
I wanted to love it as it was my 1st big trip in Business class. I felt like such a newbie as I didn't know where the personal light was, where to store things etc. Yes , I asked. Speaking of storage...being on the aisle (next to a window seat), I just had no close-by storage. I had to get up to get things out of the overhead lockers or the pocket in the seat in front. The seat was very comfortable. I didn't go full flat as I did not want to block in the window seat person. The chair pad, quilt and pillow were lovely. I didn't use any entertainment as I just read my kindle or tried to sleep. It was bumpy a lot of the time so wasn't that pleasant. Food was tasty, light and fresh. Service was also good. 13B was right in front of the toilet and galley so I thought it might be really noisy. It wasn't too bad. People didn't congregate and chat, the staff were very quiet. The guy snoring opposite me on the aisle made more noise! Overall, comfortable seat, just not much storage within the pod.
One of the window storage lockers is blanked off / unusable for this seat.
This seat was routinely served meals at the end of the food service. The good food choices had always run out by this point.
This seat is narrower than the others.
For two travellers, 36J and 36K are perfect. They are upstairs which a lot quieter than downstairs. You have the convenience of a small comparment next to 36K to stores some personal items in. They recline adequately. The downside would be that it does get cold and you really need to dress warmly for the flight. Service was good and the toilet was on the opposite side of the plane so you didn't get many people walking past. It can be narrow if the people in front of you fully recline their seats but not less crowded than you would be in a ecomony seat downstairs.
I don't understand why 35K has a negative review. It's my preferred seat when I'm flying economy. On the quoted negatives: Personally, the lack of window is neither here nor there on a 24 hour flight (SYD-LHR) and the slight temperature variation is easier solved with a light top. These are easily outweighed by the positives! Extra leg room! This part of the 'row' only has two seats, which is great. And the upstairs cabin is MUCH preferable to the economy barn downstairs. Feels much less cramped and claustrophobic. It feels that the service is quicker upstairs too. Finally, you're near the stairs at the back of the plane which lead to the self-serve refreshment area. Honestly, it's my seat of choice and I'd mark it green. I've just booked it again for my annual trip to back to the UK!
Comfortable seating, except when passenger in front will recline fully his seat for the whole 15 hours journey. As I needed wheelchair assistance, the ground and flying staff were excellent. Thank you
This seat did not have limited recline. In fact, I think it had more than usual. It was an excellent seat.
Overall not too bad. Did the Sydney2London via singapore and even if the tray table and entertainment system are stowed away, the extra legroom is a life saver. Other passengers do hang out close while they are waiting for the toilet, but no claustrophobia issues.
First time sitting in upper deck economy. These seats allow for full recline without disturbing other passengers. The row behind is an exit row so there is a big space behind row 33.
While there is no direct aisle access for this seat, the seat pitch, width and handle on the seatback definitely make it easy to get out from the window seat. There are plenty of storage for the window seat, but lacking for all aisle seats. The screen is small and in an awkward position when you have the tray table out. And when fully reclined, my seat pops up in the lower-back area, making it uncomfortable. So I have to sleep at about 165-170 fully flat (but not lie-flat). The mattress definitely made it very comfortable.
When the seats in front were reclined you could not get out of the seat to go to the toilet. The armrest could not be put up to give you the chance to slide out of your seat from the window seat.
Dreadful seat - which we paid extra for! All night passengers would come through the closed curtain to walk to the end of the plane, I guess to stretch their legs. They would often trip over my feet or exclaim because the seat juts out unexpectedly into aisle when coming through closed curtain.
For a 8 and 14 hour flight, purpose served
This is a great seat and is very quiet up top
this seat does not have aisle access (it is blocked by a wall) so you must cross 36E and 36F to exit the row
This seat has no storage pocket so it is a bit inconvienient.
