Seats 12A / 15A / 16A do not have access to overhead storage b/c emergency equipment is housed in those overhead bins allocated to these seats.
EWR to LHR last seat at back of plane with limited recline but still found the seat comfortable and with good legroom, constant foot traffic though for people using the toilets
23K is in the back row of United's new Premium Plus offering. Overall, I enjoyed the Premium Plus experience, but there are two things to be aware of with this seat. First, as it backs up against a bulkhead there is somewhat more limited recline than other rows in Premium+. However, secondly and really the main issue with this seat, is that as the Premium Plus seats are wider than Economy they stick out into the aisle more, creating a misalignment in the aisle that results in the flight attendants knocking into this seat with the carts quite literally every single time they go by (happened 7-8 times on LHR-EWR flight, by multiple different FAs) which is obviously not conducive to sleeping on a transatlantic redeye.
Flight from IAD-SFO. Seats 21K & L are in United's new Premium Plus section, supposedly a step up from Economy Plus. The seats were sold as Economy Plus and we didn't realize we were in a different class until we got on board. The pitch is good but you lose a little width because the tray tables fold into the armrest. The headphone plug is at the rear of the armrest requiring twisting your arm backwards to insert the plug. It is so out of the way even our flight attendant had difficulty finding it for us. Once you get plugged in don't remove the plug until you land to avoid muscle strains! Not sure that this is worth extra money over Economy Plus.
On trip from LHR-EWR the FAs put out snacks on top of the tv screen area of seat 1D so there were constantly people rifling through the basket, very annoying and no privacy.
Seat 31L was great, had 2 full windows and I was able to fully extend my legs to the bulkhead (I'm 5'11"). This seat and 31K have more leg room than 31DEF and more than premium plus seats too. The seat wasn't overly comfortable though and could do with more padding, I put the blanket under my butt, but it was wide enough. The entertainment unit at my seat was malfunctioning at the end but I got two movies in. Overall would highly recommend this seat
United's new (as of this writing) Premium Plus is a worthwhile purchase for those who cannot justify Polaris. Comfortable seat (table a little too close to body) with the right amount of width and recline. power outlet not in best place. Makes long haul flight tolerable, see preflight photo.
