Flight 2006 EWR-SFO. Seat 20A was fine, having Economy Plus. This guy in front of me kept reclining into my face. I asked the flight attendants and they told the guy in front of me to stop. Friendly flight attendants. The dinner they gave me was okay, but it could be better. When we landed, we got delayed.
I am 1.6m tall and 54kg. My biggest gripe about United international flights is that the fixed air vents face towards the middle aisle, so when I am on seats like this one, I have cold air blowing onto my eyes and nose. I wouldn't purchase Economy Plus again because (1) the seat recline didn't feel significantly better than Economy and (2) the increased seat pitch was in fact worse for me. Even with the table extended, I had to crouch over to eat meals.
MUC-SFO, 12 hours. It's definitely not worth almost 200 dollars to buy an Y+ seat. Slightly more legroom (in fact this legroom should be standard and minimum) but still not comfortable. Seats are probably bad by design - they are narrow of course, but also my thighs seemed to be much higher than my bottom and there was nothing to rest my foot on, so I've felt pain everywhere below waistline after a while and rather spent as much time standing as possible. If you are booked for Y+, aim for row 16 - lots of legroom, very little aisle traffic. For Economy, I would pay extra for 27A or 27L - surely, there is limited legroom due to the slider, but still more than on Y+ for a lot less money and you don't get kicked by people who are stretching or just congregating in the emergency exit area - and these preferred seats are usually taken last. Cabin crew and meals are average (for airplane food, this means it's pretty bad). Cabin temperature was perfect. Entertainment system has an insane amount of movie content including old and new stuff and it's fast and responsive. There is definitely not enough restrooms for a full plane, so plan accordingly. After trying all airlines, I would still prefer Lufthansa from MUC or FRA to SFO.
The seat provides excellent legroom but having an infant next to you on a long haul flight can be very annoying.
This supposed window seat has no window - just a blank wall that slightly curves into the exit door frame. That reduces space to the right. Also, the exit door frame provides two impediments, the first reducing space directly in front of your seat by several inches, and the second further reducing the width of leg room. Very difficult to get up from the seat, because of the reduced space directly in front of seat. United markets it as a better seat, but an economy aisle seat is better and cheaper.
Although this seat is colored YELLOW, I would still choose this as my favorite window seat on this aircraft. For starters, the angle of the seats without a row in front of this one gives about an extra 8" of legroom (I'll measure next time) so my backpack and shoes fit further up under the ottoman that they never got in the way of the moving leg rest. And although the forward head is right there, I never heard or felt it once during the 16 hour flight, although I did wear noise cancelling headphones as I do in any seat. Other big advantage is that I was done with my meal before some further back in the cabin were even getting their entrees.
This is the WORST seat in the Polaris® cabin and is appropriately colored RED. Not only is there no window, feeling like you are confined in a submarine berthing compartment, on my flight, our row was orphaned by the cabin crew. Water with meals and dinner rolls seemed to never get beyond row 3 and the row behind us was promptly served by the rear galley.
This is correct bulkhead seat so has wider foot well however flight attendants are constantly going in and out of closet...mostly for personal effects...polaris ha??
As an unaccompanied minor, I was forced into seat 41F. Horrible seat as I cannot see outside as i am passionate about aircraft. If you are an unaccompanied minor, attempt to get your seat changed as I could not document my journey since I was in the middle isle row.
The United 787-9 was perfectly comfortable for the 11.5 hour flight from PVG-SFO. The extra inch of legroom (32 inches vs 31 inches on other airlines) makes a big difference in comfort. Service and food were fine, no complaints. I'll definitely book another flight on the UA 787 if it's convenient and at a good price.
I am 6'3" and ALWAYS book row 6 on this aircraft. The foot wells are the biggest, and I feel E and D have more space in general. Further, the warning of galley noise is completely false, this is not an issue in this seat at all. I understand Business class pax may opt to fly in the forward cabin for the feeling of 'exclusivity' or privacy, but rows 6/7/8 are actually the quitest parts of the Business class cabin in my opinion. Only three rows so much less foot/cabin crew traffic.
Had this flight SFO to PVG (Shanghai). Window seats in business class should be marked YELLOW. Each seat pair is slanted towards the wall and the window seat is cramped as a result, with the footwell tapering into a triangle. There was not even enough space to put a SMALL laptop bag under the footwell. Avoiding window seats in this configuration from now on.
Recently flew IAH to SYD then SYD to LAX. Awesome "lay flat" seats. Extra space was really nice. Would not consider these seats to be yellow. Access to aisles from 1D and 1E (wife and I traveling together) was wonderful. While some of the crew were a little disappointing, others were excellent. Paid for with miles and cash - well worth the expense. Some food a bit ordinary, some extraordinary! Wine was super.
One of my favorite seats on this plane. Plenty of room, near lavatory and that is not a bad thing.
This is a window exit row seat, but about as bad as these get. BAD: The sidewall of the plane narrows here so there is less window side room than in a standard window exit row. And it narrows again in front of the seat, so there's less leg room than you would expect. And there's there exit door contraption, which limits it more. And there's no window. No storage during takeoff and landing. GOOD: you can get up anytime, which is a big plus. No cold air at the seat like in a 777. Lots of space in front of the seat to dump your stuff in flight. You get your own power plug. You can get rid of your food tray without waiting for the pickup.
The 787-9 used on the flight from Sydney to Houston direct has seats in Y+ and Economy that have only a couple of inches of recline. In fact, at the end of the flight, the attendants did not have to tell people to adjust their seats because they all looked upright. And they were. For a 16 and a half hour flight, this is disgraceful. Every time I fell asleep my head hit my chest and I woke up. Seats also too narrow. Will never fly with United again.
This is the best seat in the house, from my point of view. It’s an aisle of two middle aisle seats in the smaller 3 row section of business/first. Nearest the “generally” cleanest/largest bathroom. Service is a bit more relaxed. 3D isn’t a bad seat either though. Seats lie almost flat. The headrest keeps it up a bit. But it’s in the 5 row section. The aircraft is pretty “smooth sailing” even in the stormiest weather.
The seat width felt a little too narrow for me, and the recline could be better
Plentiful leg room for me (5'9"), but my right shoulder felt a bit cramped. I flew this for SFO-HND
My seat was 3A. It was okay but feels too narrow for Business Class seat. My height is only 5.5 (about 168cm) and weight is 140 pounds(63kg). To be fair, I fly only Business or First Class internationally with Emeirates, Lufthansa, Asiana, Austrian, Americans, JAL. So far, United Business is the worst seat. Even you have to jump over other passangers when you go to the toilets. United has 2-2-2 seats for the Business Class feels very narrow than most other airlines Business Class. I think United should change the seat 1-2-1.
