We both like aisle seats and my husband likes the bulkhead and I don't. So we chose seats 23J and 24G, even though we thought they would be displaced by quite a bit. But they weren't! They were almost opposite each other, much more so than 24G and 24J. The seat was very comfortable and the footrest + good recline did the trick for me (65 in tall). I slept very well. You get a full size pillow and a blanket.
Very good seat, extra leg room, will suit 6 foot plus. Great service, nice food and comfortable seat. Not the best movie choice but enough for all. Best space on the plane inc business class
Very impressed with the comfort and service on this long haul flight from LAX to AUK.
My seat had access to 2 windows which was OK but I couldn't use the indent of the window as an armrest which is useful and gives that little bit more room to lean on. I paid extra for this seat as it was a 'preferred' seat which was supposed to give you priority boarding. The seat was just like all the other economy seats and they started boarding passengers seated in the rear first. Overall the whole flight was good, just annoyed about the preferred seat.
Booked a skycouch for 1 and it was spectacular AKL to LHR. I am not normally someone who sleeps, but sleep I did as i was able to lie down. Great entertainment system and the bonus of free wifi on equipped flights. Was not at all bothered by the toilets (I wore ear plugs) and recline was great knowing you would not disturb anyone behind you.
Tons of room in this seat and the galley and toilets nearby don't bother you at all.....I would happily fly in this seat every time
Seat guru states that the proximity to the galley may be bothersome in this seat. I was anxious that I had perhaps made a mistake when selecting it. I have to say without doubt this is the best seat. The separation from the galley means it is not bothersome at all and the cabin crew generally serve you first. All in all a fabulous flight and fantastic first experience in Business Class. Thank you Air NZ.
Seat has a massive electronic box in the foot space that is bit uncomfortable. The window seat on that row doesn’t have that box. Entertainment system is great and content fantastic
Tried back of cabin on the return leg, looking at everone's feet, but no one looking at me, lol. 7 A/B/J/K may be best in the cabin in my opinion. Bathroom traffic was no issue, nor was galley. Not bad. Of course as Business Class seats go, as has been previously noted, these are among the worst. With that said, cabin crew was great, and food was considerably better than a DeltaOne TPAC flight I took a few weeks earlier. If they changed out these seats, Air New Zealand would have a J class exceeding all the domestics and just a notch under JAL/ANA.

Seat was amazingly comfortable whilst in the seat position then when extended to a flat bed, was fabulous. I was able to sleep due to the comfort. My only tiny criticism would be that the cabin itself was quite cold.
While I found the aircraft satisfactory I was disappointed that in the next compartment I.e. premium economy there was a baby’s bassinet in the front row, thus making it the next row from the business class section and where I was sitting. While I appreciate that the bassinet has to go somewhere after having paid a substantial amount for my seat it was extremely disappointing to have a baby crying thru the night on the flight in such close proximity to Business class.
We had 34 A and B for the 13 hour AKL-IAH and these seats are outstanding. Despite SG's advice there is *no* protrusion from the exit door into the foot space of 34A. The bulkhead is so far away you could fit a coffee table and armchair in the space. As the bulkhead separates economy from premium economy and there is no economy lavatory, this space doesn't suffer from foot traffic. 34 A and B are a set of 2 not 3 seats. Best value seat selection on the plane by far.
The fact that this is a two-seat row is nice, with plenty of space to get up without blocking the aisle. However, there is no space to store a bag under the seat in front of you and stretching your legs out is awkward due to the placement of the supports for the row of seats in front (row 56).
I thought I'd lucked out when I got all three seats to myself on a long haul from Heathrow to LAX. However, the arm rests on either side of seat J have sleeves on the back of them that make raising them totally impossible. Weird because the two rows in front of and two behind me do not appear to be skycouch rows but their armrests can be raised fully. I had been looking forward to a good nap.... :-( at least I don't have to share elbow room and have a view
Having booked seats 1J and 1K all the way to Auckland I was starting to get worried by other reviews and the general SeatGuru view that these were not good seats. However, in my opinion they are great seats - the best in BC. The proximity to the galley and the WCs is not 'bothersome' at all, the WC is nowhere near these seats and people don't congregate in this area. There is no noise from the galley and being served first was nice. We flew back in row 5 and I would have changed to row 1 if I could.
Having a lie-flat bed makes all the difference on an overnight long haul flight like this, and in my mind that's what you're paying for; all the other stuff is basically fluff. The Air New Zealand Business Premier seats might have seemed state of the art about 15 years ago, but the conversion from seat to flat bed and back is a bit awkward. It CAN be done by the passenger, but it will be faster and more efficient when done by the FAs. I figured it out on my own, but users who are used to pressing a button to go back and forth may find this process frustrating. The mattress, comforter and pillow are really quite comfortable once set up. The alignment of the seats does not facilitate conversation with any of your neighbors. My wife and I were across the aisle from each other but resorted to the infotainment system's text message app to communicate. The food was plentiful but unremarkable...poached eggs for breakfast were the highlight. Drinks, on the other hand, were great, with a selection of NZ wines onboard and I was happy with the single malt scotch on offer. Service on this flight was uniformly excellent from the Auckland based cabin crew. They were highly attentive and everyone always had a smile on their face. They were also quiet during quiet time, which is greatly appreciated on a red eye flight.
Worst Bus Class seat ever! The only way to get to the lie-flat position is to have the flight attendant put it in that position and put a mattress pad down. To get out of the lie flat position you have to have the flight attendant take it out of the lie flat position. So if you are in bad weather and the attendants cannot get up you are stuck in the lie-flat position!! Also, the seating arrangement for couples is bad. The 2 middle seats have a high immovable divider between them and face away from each other. The Business class, in general, was average. Food was nothing special.
Premium econ on ANZ is a strong offering and having sat in a couple of different seats, this is the one I would go for if you can. There is a lot of legroom here and, unlike the EVA 777 (leased to ANZ) I had on the outward flight, the video comes up between the seats. I think I prefer the version on the bulkhead in front for viewing purposes, but it is better to be able to easily reach the ANZ version's touch screen. The seat is comfortable, but I find the leg rest rather somewhat ineffective. I am not tall, 5'10 or so, but I find the leg rest doesn't extend enough to allow ones legs to sit comfortably so the options are to curl up or have your legs dangle. However, this is minor. I managed to get several hours sleep to cut into the tedium of a 12 hour flight. The IFE is very good although several around me needed theirs rebooting during the flight. The food on ANZ is less good than other aspects of service in my opinion but still, service is very friendly and attentive and this is a great way to get to New Zealand/Australia and exceptional value for the improvement over economy
I sat in this seat ACK>HNL and back again a week later. Unfortunately this aircraft is the EVA Air "dry leased" replacement plane due to the servicing of RR Trent engines. It is obviously an early version of 777-300 as it made many noises in take of and landing that indicate it is of some age. The inclusion of Chinese subtitles on movies etc was a bit annoying, certainly IFE less interesting than on normal Air NZ craft. The NZ crew on the flight up to HNL did a magnificent job in servicing the clients as it was their first flight on this aircraft, food was great and they always managed a smile. On the way back, same aircraft but a more experienced crew on this aircraft, food was excellent as was the service. Two staff membranes even went around shaking hands with each client at the end of the flight wishing everyone a pleasant stay in NZ. unheard of service, simply marvellous.
