The seat itself reclines to flat bed so the Seatguru information is incorrect. The plane itself is outdated, so is the service and the general impression. Staff can barely speak English which is an absurd for an international flight. During my two 12h trips we never heard anything from the cocpit, probably because the pilots also can't speak anything other that to communicate with traffic control. Both my flights were in complete darkness even if there was daylight outside. The AC was set to the minimum with the cold air blowing right into my face that you can't control. I ended up asking for a second blanket and slept with my hat on. Food was just ok, nothing special. Entertainment system was ok, again nothing special. This airline need to really work on the quality, today they are way behind likes of Lufthansa etc, not to mention the middle eastern airlines. And that goes not just for the cocpit crew but also the ground experience. The lounge in their main hub Guangzhou is really bad, the food selection was minimum and again, no one could speak English, other than "yes, no, I don't know". Try to avoid if possible. Will never fly with them again.
This seat was great and is actually a seat that can recline to a 180 degrees fully flat bed ( I found this out on the china southern airliners official website). This cabin crew were very friendly and the service was great. The close proximity to the lavatories and galley was not bothersome and barley noticeable. The only downside to choosing seats the the whole row 4 is that the inflight entertainment screen is significantly smaller compared to the seats in the row behind due to it being a bulkhead seat.
Excellent flight and service yet again from China Southern. There Skyteam partnership working well with some Dutch cabin crew on this flight. KLM lounge at Schipol is excellent despite the refurbishment work.
Excellent seats and service. I could not fault the flight cabin crew or the food/drink. Will certainly chose this airline again. One criticism is that the aircon in the Guangzhou lounge is a liitle poor.
First Class: AKL-CAN 1st Jan 2016. Awesome seat, huge, heaps of room. Very private front cabin, extremely great service and food. What a way to travel!!
