Poor seat selection on our part. We booked 49J and K. Found out after meal service that if plane is full the crew start the service at row 50, do a horseshoe at the back of the plane and then come from the front. We were last on plane to get meal and there was no choice left by the time they got to us - only sushi. We were offered left over vegetarian meals as the only hot option - they were awful. Being an overnight flight there is very little room in economy if the person in front fully reclines their seat. Very cramped and consequently did not sleep.
Flight SYD-BKK. New aircraft but cheaply designed and constructed. Tray table was a fold in half arrangement. The hinge is a poor design so the two halves are not flat and the side nearest me sloped down so anything on the slippery surface of the table would simply slide into my lap. Qantas meal service did not help as the meal was not on a single tray, but served as separate items Bread, food, dessert all separate. They all fell into my lap. Avoid Qantas.
The Crew were friendly and helpful during the journey. Our seats were in economy toward the rear of the aircraft. Seats were quite comfortable for an 8.25 hour flight although would have liked seats further apart and allowed more room to recline for sleeping The blanket and pillow would be better issued on a needs basis to give passengers more room
Horrible, window seat without window! Less space for shoulders as well.
Ein sehr schöner und bequemer Sitz, freundliches Personal, toller und entspannter Flug
Q-suite experience was mixed, seat 6A arrangement is great, you have so much privacy and two windows! That being said the pacing of this flight is what was off, it seemed there was constant interruption by the crew or announcements, I appreciate attentiveness but on an overnight flight after dinner is served we all just want to try to sleep, that being said the crew was great, one disappointing note, I have a CPAP machine but was unable to use it as you have to request a CPAP machine specific seat when booking, something to do with the power draw as opposed to a normal seat?...anyways this seat cost me only $96 so who am I to complain..!
Very comfortable seat and flight.
I sat in 39K from Singapore to Brisbane and it was a really nice seat as there were no air stewards in the rest area, which is curtained off behind seat 39 J and K, and I could put my seat back without worrying about someone behind me. Just be aware that they put lights on in that area behind the seat so you need a eye mask if you like total darkness. The seat has a view of the wing so not great if you are after a good view.
I loved my economy seat on this flight, just forward of the wing. The 2-4-2 configuration on the A330 means only one person to climb over and much easier for staff not having to lean over 2 other people, much better than 3-3-3 seating on 777s and 787s which I avoid. My MEL - Tokyo day flight was perfect - despite being 90% full the service was great. Good lunch meal and supper, offered water, fruit and snacks throughout the flight, lovely Bleasedale red wine, no queues for the toilets. Not sure why people whinge about Economy class in this aircraft - of course it's a bit tight but it's clean, quiet and comfortable (I'm 5'10"), food was fine, staff great. And considering the distance and inclusions, the fare was great value.
Last row before bulkhead so seat does not recline
I had the window seat at 59A on a return flight from Japan. Being that it was the window, it had a lot of extra leg space to the side, which I didn't consider before. I suppose that's a bonus with all window seats. The only negatives I had with this seat was that the cabin crew filled half the overhead locker with a giant bag of headphones and similar items. The people behind us got their first and used up the space above us and so we ended up putting our bags at our feet. Probably could've disputed it but it wasn't a big issue for us. And, as has already mentioned, every so often, yes, there is a terrible smell coming from the toilet...
I feel that the economy seats on this plane are too close together making for very little incline. There is no premium economy so not much choice and few business so an upgrade is very unlikely. If you want to fly direct from Tokyo to Melbourne on Qantas there is no other choice. Will probably fly JAL from now on, better choice and better config for every class.
Seat has reduced leg room due to foldaway screen for seat 24J
My seat allocation was 57F. At my seat there was a large black box which I was told housed the entertainment system. However my housing was 3-4 times bigger than the other housings that I could observe. It was approximately 15 cm wide and 17 cm deep 12 cm high. It would appear that I happened to be the unlucky passenger that got the one and only seat with such a large housing. The problem for me was that I could not put both of my feet on the ground in front of me. I had to place my right foot to either side of the housing or place my right foot on the housing box if I wanted to sit without twisting my spine. Hence I had to alternate positions where I had my feet either side of the housing or on top of the large housing box. To make all of this even worse the seat in front of me was offset which meant both the TV screen and tray table was offset to the left of my seat by about 10 cm. Also the seat did not recline easily and I had to ask for assistance every time I needed to move the seat. NOT GOOD!! I write this while I am in extreme pain from enduring a 10 hour flight on a seat that should not be sold to anyone.
I was transiting from a Qantas flight from Auckland, I only has a very short connection time, about 2hrs. As I was a Oneworld Emerald member of Finnair. I had priority boarding and only got to go to the Qantas First Auckland Lounge. The Qantas staff helped me through Sydney Airport because I have never been to Sydney before. I had got my baggage sent to my destination Helsinki. So after that I boarded the plane and I got surprise priority fast track for Bangkok. I sat in my seat and the blankets didn't smell good. So I asked to switch my blanket and when I got my new one. It was much better. Apparently our flight was delayed because they had not brought the checked luggage in yet. After taking off I had a good flight.
Fabulous economy seat for the daytime flight from Brisbane to Hong Kong; plenty of legroom (I am 5'11") and spare seat meant I could spread out. Really good service from the cabin crew and food and bevvy offerings the best in the sky. In-flight entertainment system allowed me to catch up on a few of my shows.. fab!
There is an entertainment box under both seats 24A and 24B reducing the space underneath the seat infront.
This is a terrible seat. There is no legroom due to bulkhead and armrest is fixed. I believe same applies to 23A and B
Amazing Economy Seat! One of the most comfortable I've tried. I couldn't figure it out but it seemed like the seat had more recline than any other economy seat I've tried...and I travel a lot. Food was very basic and so was entertainment, but the seat was so comfortable, I could easily fall asleep. Thoroughly impressed.
Nightmare experience. Avoid Quantas long haul if you can. This BKK to SYD flight was jam packed resulting in congestion at the toilet areas whereby trollies struggled to get through. many crying babies all night.staff were visibly disenchanted. I am a small man but struggled in squashed up area and consequently could not sleep a wink. food was very poor , breakfast was a small muffin most of which had congealed into the paper wrapping so you ate as much paper as muffin.
