Having flown the Thai A350 and B788 within a couple of weeks I can compare those two pretty good. The comments for the A350 here are quite positive while for the B788 negative. I can't fully agree on the negative comments because both times the seats felt similar. I was expecting the worst when going on a BKK-VIE flight with the Dreamliner but the seat felt not that bad and reminded me to the A350 experience I had some weeks before. So overall I regard the comments below too negative and I already had worse Dreamliners in Economy (Air Canada for example).
Flown Thai twice yearly for 12 years. NO MORE. 787 Dreamliner(Nightmare)only choice from Brisbane. Seating is the most uncomfortable I have ever used. (Flown several airlines over a lifetime) Too narrow, no leg room, bad design. Sore back & side stitch just sitting in it for 9 hours. Sadly it is the only direct flight from Brisbane to Bangklok. Fly Singapore now despite have a longer haul & stopover(which I would prefer not to have). Very bad choice of layout Thai!!
Terrble seat, people swing and bounce against this seat whilst waiting for toilet and when they pass others in isle.
Most uncomfortable seat ever. Shape is all wrong for anyone above average height - the bulky headrest forces head forward and causes the neck and shoulders to freeze. Sliding it upwards helps only a little. Also seat padding totally inadequate for heavier pax - once you've squeezed into the tiny 18" seat width it's not long before you're actually sitting on the frame. Boeing 787 Nightmare Liner! Bye Bye Thai!
No Window to see the view
The worst seating to fly feel like you are in a sardine tin i have flown thai for 12years but now am swiching to singapore airlines more comfort
the seat width and pitch is OK for both of us, IFE is good and responsive, only the cushion is a bit thin. traveled for 3 hours and it already sinking...
This seat allows the user to recline without bothering other passengers
Surprisingly comfortable eco seat with sufficient leg room. Good to see Thai investing in passenger comfort.
The most uncomfortable Business Class seat I have encountered. Lower seat squab made it difficult to get out of seat without grabbing something solid to help. Very narrow seats made it impossible to sleep sideways in Flat bed position. Avoid.
Very disappointed with these seats. Narrow and you cant stretch both legs out as your feet wont fit. Where your feet goes it come into a "V". Have to climb over your neighbour to get out. For a new aircraft not up to standard
Very, very uncomfortable seats and with the seat in front reclined all the way for the whole trip, it was the most awfull trip in 38 years of flying.I could not move at all to ease my butt,..i could not get up. Had to get stuwardess to get the guy in front to put his seat up so i could go to bathroom.Sick of this 787..never again.Seats not fit for a dog.
For a long haul aircraft it is just an elongated 737. The seats everywhere are uncomfortable and the screen does not tilt when the person in front leans back. The 777 and I guess the new A350 would be better suited to the longer haul flights.
This is an exit row which is supposedly a prized possession however the curvature of the fuselage makes this a very uncomfortable seat as you are constantly leaning towards the centre of the aircraft. When the meals are served you have NO room. That connected to the lack of padding under the "bum" makes life very uncomfortable.
I have flown a number of times now on this plane and see it as things to come for new planes, so won't complain about the seats. If you have wide shoulders, you should absolutely avoid aisle seats as you will be constantly bumped due to the very narrow aisles in this plane. This is demonstrated by the flight attendants when they roll the trolleys down and warn every seat row to watch themselves. When people are sleeping, you really need to walk sideways to avoid disrupting them if you want to be considerate. My biggest gripe is the inability of the screens to tilt is quite annoying when the seat in front is reclined. On the positive, I do find myself feeling better coming off this plane compared to the previous 777. Regarding the midnight out flight comment, I actually prefer these flight times and glad that Thai will now also be flying out midnight from BNE to BKK.
This has been my 6th flight on Thai in a 787 which is inaptly named Dreamliner. Most uncomfortable seats on any International carrier I have ever experienced. The 777 was so much better. This is a case where you try and jam as many people in a smaller aircraft and hope no one notices. I am about to change carriers because the midnight flight out of Bangkok is just too uncomfortable.
The worst, most uncomfortable seat I have ever sat in on any aircraft. In fairness, it was an aisle exit row seat with generous legroom - but the lower part of the headrest was below shoulder level for me, (I am tall, around 194 cm) so if I sat up straight that somehow contorted me and if I tried to curl up into a ball inside the seat, that became painful pretty quickly, too. On the return Thai 787 flight, by the end of six hours or so of being parked in a similar seat I had cramps. Never again! Thai should replace these seats, they are a disgrace.
Daytime flight, noticed the benefits of the lower cabin altitude and higher humidity. Felt much fresher on arrival. Good video choice, food better than some and cabin service much better than other carriers e.g. Emirates and British Airways. On time departure and arrival. The seat? Typical for economy.
My wife and I flew 15E-15F from BKK to Perth. Nice enough seats, and as always, exemplary service on Thai. Was able to sleep very well but just coming off of a Thai777 in Biz we found that the older plane was slightly nicer. However, I'd take this plane any day over a US carrier.
The plane is much smaller than the 777 almost like an elongated 737. Not very comfortable as the seats also are smaller. The day flight is bearable but the night flight is very uncomfortable. Unfortunately there is not much you can do other than change airlines.
