Nanjing to Hong Kong. Nice airline, good food. Seat quality maybe not as nice as a Boeing 777. Aircraft looked pretty clean, flight crew was kind, not a 5-star airline but it must be a 4-star. The TV was not in such a good condition.
As a short haul regional airline, Cathay Dragon has a few advantages: 1. The flights are punctual. This is a real plus as Chinese airlines are known for delayed flights. 2. The Hong Kong airport is a paradise to eat and shop. There are many good eateries and many shops to shop to kill time. 3. The leg room is enough for most passengers. 4. They offer some light snacks which are tasty, especially the local Hong Kong brand biscuits. Will definitely love to fly Cathay Dragon again.
My flight was very short but they provide one hot meal (Rice and Chicken) which is amazing. The cabin crew is fairly nice but not all are. The IFE (TV) is very old because my aircraft was 22 years old A330-342 (B-HLL The one that caught accident as CX780) All in all a nice and simple regional flight. The flight back was the same but with newer IFE (B-LBI)
Hanoi to Hong Kong. There are new business class seats on the plane, very pleasant and comfortable. The food is good, the choice is standard. Stewardesses good and pleasant service
Dragonair is Cathay Pacific's budget brand that operates all flights from HKG to cities in China. The A330 was clean and comfortable but fitted with 2-2-2 recliner seats rather than 1-2-1 lie flat you might find on Cathay regional or long haul flights. The food was not bad although the presentation was a bit more pedestrian. Still better than a US domestic flight of similar length, especially in the leg room department.
I've flown Cathay Pacific 3x round trip to Hong Kong and connect to Philippines...never a problem...always good service...reasonably priced...highly recommended
This flight was on 4th March during the Covid19 outbreak. Flight was lightly loaded, seats were comfortable, meal service efficient and polite. Menu choice adequate ( 2 choices) .Quality ok. Seats comfortable - in flight entertainment good ( same as Cathay Pacific). Flight departed 20 mins early ( due light load) and arrived in HKG 1 hour early, largely due to weather and lack of ATC congestion at HKG. Quickly through immigration and bags already in arrivals hall.
We suffered from flight consolidation such that we had to travel a day earlier than planned due to flight cancellation causing us to bear additional costs of a day in Hong Kong complete with the Coronaviris situation. We then found it Unbelievable that this airline would allow an individual that was clearly was worse for wear due to drinking to much alcohol onto a plane carrying a full glass of beer and then continue to serve the individual during the flight. Fortunately he was only rowdy in noise terms claiming every few minutes that Cambodians were trying to kill him rather than becoming violent Airline needs urgently to review their procedures.
Fairly standard flight with most things living up to our expectations. We got a decent price for the tickets but I would hesitate to pay a significant premium over the other carriers for this route. The overall cabin environment was clean but a bit dated. The seat was comfortable enough for a short-haul flight with acceptable width and legroom. Seat cleanliness was ok but some surfaces needed an additional wiping. The IFE system was acceptable for a short-haul flight. The screen was small and the interface was slow but the content was decent. The food served was quite tasty although the portions were small, again it was acceptable for a short-haul flight. Service from the flight attendants was professional and timely. We travelled in economy but I took a few photos of the business class cabin. The seats were more of a premium economy style but the legroom seemed decent and overall they looked comfortable enough for a short-haul flight.
Efficient rather than friendly. Good in flight entertainment. Food disappointing. On time. Helpful with wife’s rollator.
Don’t know what to expect for 1st time with Cathay Dragon. Biz class seats used the premium econ seats in Cathay Pac flights. Been on biz class in EU and the seats on this flight could be considered more luxurious (biz class in Europe usually the same as econ but you have no one sitting beside you). Flight was more full than expected but not completely packed. Not sure why travelers were not wearing face masks... Service was fine but food was average (maybe I was expecting too much for Cathay Dragon) (sorry the photo is sideways).
Original night flight HAN-HKG was cancelled and Cathay offered the 10:50 flight (the only one out of Hanoi). This left me in HKG airport for 11 hours with no compensation due to extraordinary circumstances. Next is at HAN airport. Boarding time on the boarding pass said 10:20. At 10:15, they were announcing last call for boarding and I was just going through security screening. What’s up with that?! I didn’t run to the gate but I did rush a bit to the gate with no shoes on (in HAN, you need to take your shoes off through the screening). The gate staff was apologetic a bit but by 10:20 I saw that everyone had already boarded. Something not right there. Again, the seats used the premium econ seat bit there was no screen. iPads were given out for the entertainment. Food again was average. Service was ok.
I think the service on Cathay Dragon is better than Cathay Pacific. On a short 1.5 hr flight, we were offered 3 drink services. Breakfast was served which included a tea, a chicken pastry, and a cookie. The chicken pastry wasn't that great; mostly bread and barely any filling. Flight was an on time departure and an on time arrival.
The flight was uneventful except for many passengers carrying heavy luggage into the cabin and causing danger when they put their luggage on the top. While terms and conditions were written in the ticket plus when purchasing, the check-in counter staff continues to allow passengers taking heavy luggage plus big heavy bags plus another heavy backpack into the cabin by a number of passengers. Please Cathay, it is time to be tough to these passengers.
Our flight time has been brought forward 6 hours. We now have to wait 6 hours at Hong Kong for our connection to London. They said it was because of Coronavirus but our flight was 80% full coming out and that was after the Hong Kong lockdown. We won’t be using them again.
Flight service is good enough, but size of catering is not full enough; Cabin cleanliness is quite fair.
Travelling with elderly handicapped relative is a breeze when handicapped assistance is requested during reservation. No waiting in lines.
Our connecting flight was with Cathay Dragon. Small aircraft loaded with friendly crew. Also the flight was short and still we were served with a full meal, desert, coffee and other beverages. Made my whole day.
Hong Kong to Okinawa Naha. Overall - A very pleasant flight. The only two gripes I have was that they changed the plane to a narrowbody A321 when the flight was supposed to be operated on an A330, and the other being that the legroom on the A321 was not as generous as their widebody aircraft (but then again, every A321 is going to offer lesser legroom). With that out of the way, everything else was done right. Boarding was seamless, cabin crew were very professional and courteous, and up-to-date IFE was offered even on the narrowbody A321. Meals were provided too. Not much time was wasted on the ground and we were airborne before scheduled time. All in all a very pleasant flight.
......the food. Granted, Cathay Dragon flies short routes so you can't obviously expect elaborated menus, especially when flying cheaply in economy like myself. Good that I brought along some snacks and biscuits.
