Mileage expires after 24 months of inactivity (in comparison to no expiration date set by Delta, United, Jetblue, etc.). Will never fly with Hainan Airlines again
Manchester to Tianjin on 10 July. The stewardesses were very nice and they danced for the passengers in order to liven up the atmosphere. We were all very happy and touched. The stewardesses also warmly took photos with the passengers and were very friendly. I was very satisfied with their service.
Departed one and a half hours late on the scheduled two-hour non-stop flight from Ningbo (NGB) to Guangzhou (CAN). Other than the delay for mechanical issues, the flight went smoothly.
I got a ticket for a business class, and then, I returned the ticket. I got the confirmation that the ticket was returned. However, weeks later, I am still waiting for my refund. I contacted the customer service multiple times. The same answer: It will be processed. The fact is: I haven't seen my money back. Be careful with this airline. P.S.: (I had to choose a time for "when did you travel", but I did not travel)
Flew with colleagues in economy class from Sanya (SYX) to Shenzhen (SZX). No complaints. Hit a little turbulence, but we were warned in advance.
I took HU7976 flight from Toronto to Beijing on May 6. The first place of entry was Xi'an. When boarding the plane, every flight attendant very warmly say "Hello, welcome home" when they see the passenger. When I heard this sentence, I was really moved. During the flight, the flight attendants treated us enthusiastically. Especially the flight attendant Hao Yuhe has helped me many times, because the protective clothing has written names, so she was very impressed. Here, I hope to express my deep respect and heartfelt thanks to the flight attendants Hao Yuhe and other crew members. took the flight in January. It was a pleasant experience. Service was good, a whole service kit was handed out to everyone. In-flight entertainment was good, lots of movies to select from. Food was alright. I hope the airline will survive.

Booked on their website, this company canceled the flight only two days before departure, and after two and half months , they refused to give refund, they announced false flights info to financing their own debts before going bankruptcy. I guess
My assistant is an idiot, I just forgot to tell her not to book from this airline, guess what, This airline canceled their flight two days before the departure date again, did not even send cell phone message to alert customers ! ,that I had to find by email almost one day later and they refused to give refund. this airline has no respect to customers and just keep scamming people, it was really difficult to find alternative flights since was too close to departure date, Stay away from this airlines if you don't want your business or leisure trips to end in a disaster or stranded in the airport only to find that they CANCELED your flight out of whim .
I suspect that this airline was making a scam that they put false relatively cheaper flights info in mid-Feb , here is what happened: after I booked it, around three days before departure , they mysteriously canceled all flights in mid-Feb. so i can not even change to a different flights, and so I was calling for refund and they just told me that they can not refund me at moment,since they have been experiencing high volume of refund, of course you can not, that was when i realized this whole scam. A friendly reminder , just stay away from this airlines, and anyone would be much better off in the future.
For a delayed flight, Hainan airlines has promised a reimbursement of only 200 RMB. We agreed on all the details in November 2019. But when I ask where this amount is, they start asking for my bank details again. That has been repeated three times. My conclusion - never fly with Hainan airlines, you will get nothing if you are delayed
I used to fly with Hainan Airlines about 1-3 x year. This year we had to cancel our flight due to the corona virus. We cancelled on Jan 25th and were told we would get a refund. 5 weeks later, STILL NO REFUND! We have called multiple times (which takes forever just to get a rep on the phone) only to be told "We are very busy", "you have to wait lonber", "We don't know when you will get a refund, maybe 90 days?" RIDICULOUS! Also, emailed may times, also a waste of time. I am going back to UNITED AIRLINES.
I was in Beijing when Coronavirus outbreak occurs. My original return flight with HNA was on Feb 7 from PEK to Chongqin and then JFK. As US closes airport/flight, a lot of flight between US and China are cancelled. Including mine. So I start calling HNA to change my flilght. I was put on hold for several hours with no one answering. After 10+ tries, I finally got hold of someone at HNA. They were able to change my flight to Jan 31 . But on Jan 28, I got a text message saying my flight was cancelled. So I called again and after several hours, they change my flight to Jan 30. Then on Jan 29, I got another message that my flight is cancelled again. I tried to call them, but no one answers. So I drove to the airport to HNA counter. The agent there was able to rebook my flight to Seattle instead. I understand a lot of flights are cancelled and agent are busy. But they should have put more agents to answer the call. Their APP and website is not working at all. It was still showing my original flight even though it was changed multiple times. I have no way to rebook it online. So I have to do the old fashion way. Fortunately, I was able to get back to US. I am hesitant to fly with them again in the future. The business class lie-flat seat on this flight is good. I got sanitized blanket. But no pillow. There is only one meal to choose from. No alcohol drink at all. I can understand that this is due to coronavirus.
First impression, the wingtip VIP lounge at JFK is way out of league. It is small, crowded. Virtually no food. I mostly fly business class with other airlines, they have much better lounge with better food, drink, service. I understand HNA has financial issue and can’t afford to build their VIP lounge everywhere. But why not join an alliance and use their lounge. On board experience is better. Jfk to CTU flight business classes seat is in 1-2-1 configuration at about 45 degree angle. HNA has 3 business class configuration on different planes. This is another problem. They need to consolidate into a single business product.
I just had very bad experience from this airline last month. My flight was cancelled without any notice. I had to pay lots more to purchase ticket from different airline. My schedule was also screwed. Their service phone took very long time and they refused to provide any compensation. This airline attack people using low price. The cost goes lots high if part of your trip is cancelled. Good luck if you want to try this airline.
Prague to Beijing. We made a seat reservation online and as we checked in we got other seats. As we entered the plane the very kind cabin staff asked me if I want to sit on a seat next to the emergency exit with enough space for my legs, so this flight was a very pleasant trip for me. The staff were so friendly and very thankful to get a smile and thank you back for their work on the flight. The entertainment system got a good selection of different media like movies or music but music was hanging sometimes on my system, with movies it was much more critical and my colleagues told me the same that movies were running out of buffer were hanging. I hope that more people will give the service crew a little bit of thanks for their good job they do on a flight to make us passengers happy.
Shenzhen to New York via Chengdu, and return Los Angeles to Shenzhen via Chongqing by Hainan airlines. I got four fabulous flights with them. Good dining, large legroom, helpful cabin crew. On-time flight. Not disturbing announcement. Large screen entertainment, but need improvement movie options.
Beijing to Tijuana. The business class service offered by Hainan Airlines is top tier. Each and every detail is paid attention by the crew members and the passengers are taken good care of from taking off to landing. I would recommend it with no hesitations.
Beijing to Toronto. A very comfortable flight with nice food and drink service. Flight attendants were very helpful when asking for services. Will pick this flight again for travelling.
