Horrible experience on this plane Doha to Yangon. The plane was at least 10 years old, seating was cramped, uncomfortable and worst of all didnt recline although the ones infront did so you are even more cramped. There is no screen entertainment but we were informed after 3hrs that we could use the app on tablets. Thats ok but there is no power socket either. Sadly we are bookedon return in same seats in a few weeks. Disgraceful plane and I won't beflying them again after that. Plus the food was poor but staff were good.
I was a QR fan until I'd sat down on this A319. Seat was OK but NO POWER and NO INFO FLIGHT for 5-1/2hrs - rubbish. Supposedly they should have broadcast at the gate so you have time to download the app (but didn't) and of course that's assuming you have a "personal device" in the first place ! If this is Qatar's idea of forward thinking they are in trouble !! We'll all be flying with an airline that has a good old fashioned screen.
This aircraft must surely be the worst in Qatar's long-haul fleet, the seats are more cramped and offer less recline than the A320, and there is no inflight entertainment. They do offer Oryx Play for you to use on your device, but fail to tell you this before boarding the flight and you can't download it on the plane. Also there is no inseat power so your device is unlikely to last the 6-7 hours flight. This plane is used on flights to Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro, which are some of the most expensive tickets available but definitely the worst plane.
Qatar Airways Flight QR 986 Utapao is only 30 Minutes from Pattaya, quick easy and painless. Private taxi only 700 Baht Small and quiet Airport (it was at 7.30 am anyway) Qatar Airways changed the Aircraft for this flight after I booked, from a Dreamliner to an Airbus A319LR Much Smaller aircraft in comparison. You can only enter to departure area 90 minutes before the flight. Immigration was very slow with only 1 office in the booth, and he was not the fastest guy in the world !!! Very small departure area with only a couple of outlets selling very little. Utapao also has no Business Class Lounge, instead they gave us a $25 voucher to use in Doha Duty Free. I wanted to buy some cigarettes to take home, but nowhere to buy !!! Looking around the small area there was a Thailand Duty Free Collection Point, so I assume you can buy this stuff in a different part of the Airport BEFORE you pass Immigration .... Hmmmm this info is not displayed anywhere. There is no direct boarding facility, so you are bused to the Aircraft (bet that is fun when it is howling down) Aircraft as I suspected is very basic compared to their Dreamliner with only 8 Business Class Seats In hindsight I can see why they downgraded the aircraft, it was maybe at 20% capacity, and that is on the A319LR, a Dreamliner would have been empty !!!!! To be fair both the Aircraft ,service and seats were much better than i anticipated, nice little pods, very close to lie flat seats, Food and Entertainment very good, all in all i was very happy with this flight :)
Qatar have greatly improved these seats in the 3 years since I last flew with them on a 319. Seats now recline fully, and there is a full entertainment package. Not quite the wide body jet experioence, but very good for this size of plane.
Qatar Airways was wonderful, great food, great crew, great movies. It was a very comfortable 6 hour flight. I think QR has changed the Stockholm route to a different aircraft but on this one there were no PTVs, just overhead but a great selection of music. They served, drinks with crackers, lunch, then a snack sandwich before landing.
