My favorite thing about the CRJs is the legroom. Only con is that I have to lean my head down a little bit to look out the window (I'm 5' 10'').
Excellent first class seat for this short flight. Service was good, just a snack and drink. The seat is comfortable and large. However, no overhead space on the A side of the aircraft.
Window seats in exit row are located between windows. Seat pitch is approximately 36”.
Windows are misaligned after the emergency exit rows. To see out of this window, you must lean far forward, and that's also the case for seats in rows 19-22. I don't know why the windows are so far apart on this plane. It feels much more cramped than an Embraer 170 or 190.
Beware! This seat 22 A/B, the flight's CRJ-700 aircraft overhead is used for it's required equipment storage. i.e. emergency equip. Highly advise against it, unless you can use row forward's seat overhead's! Good luck with that!
Will never fly United again. First time, last time. TSA was not put on ticket!!! Seriously? No HC wheelchair upon arrival at destination. No pre-boarding priority given to me/recovering from knee replacement. Had to climb stairs to board. No pre-warning! Seat was like sitting on a plank of wood. Killed my sciatica. Popcorn on floor; overhead light was MINIMAL, bulb looked like it was failing. Only had two 'snack boxes' available for purchase. I got the classic, my daughter got the cheese one. Cabin EXTREMELY cold, after several complaints from passengers, heat turned on so high it was insane. Couldn't connect to WiFi. Carry ons thrown around like garbage when deplaning. Utter confusion deplaning due to carry on procedure - lack thereof. Disorganized/unprofessional. Yall should take a page from SW - they treat their customers with concern/professionalism and expertise. HAVE to use you for return to MD. God help us!
This seat has fantastic legroom, especially for such a small plane.
Seat 2A is the best in this cabin. Other row 2 seats are good as well. With the reduced overhead bin space, row 2 affords some precious [underseat] storage space unavailable to row 1. The person in row 1 had the seat reclined the entire flight and it didn't seem "In my face" at all. Typically I try to avoid RJ's when possible but this seat was perfectly fine on par with mainline jets.
Lots of legroom in this seat. Under-seat storage is a little hard to reach, but more source than first.
This is a perfectly pleasant seat; comfortable, quiet, and the service on short flights is good.
In the past week I've flown in seats 8D & 9D (both Economy Plus) and 15C & 12A (regular economy). Each flight was 25-50 minutes and for trips that short this plane is fine. It's surprisingly quiet. I don't think Economy Plus is worth it unless you can get Row 7 or 18 - those really do have additional space, but rows 8 and 9 aren't noticeably better than regular economy. All of the seats are relatively uncomfortable and the pockets in the seats in front of you are too small to be useful - even a bottle of water was too big. The overhead bins are too small to hold much, so many bags (and all rollers, I believe) have to be gate checked - except that rather than checking it through to your final destination, United makes you wait and get them back near the jetway, which is something to consider if you have a tight connection to make.
Avoid the CRJ when possible. United's gate check process is an absolute mess. On arrival, you have to wait10 minutes in a cold jetway (it didn't help that IND has a fan blowing cold air at the base of it) for the ground crew to bring the bags up one at a time. Thankfully I was near the door, so I could easily see and get to my bag, but those stuck halfway up the jetway had to navigate the mess of people and bags. Also, this seat is crap. Narrower than those in the E175 and the tray table sits on your legs.
It was my first flight ever so didn't know what to expect. Having had recent hip surgery i was expecting to be a bit uncomfortable.But had lots of legroom and was very comfortable. Being the plane was only half full i was offered to sit the row behind that had a bit more leg room but was fine where i was. After flying bigger planes i did realize the noise level was fairly high but not really that bad. Would have no problem flying in this airplane again.
I sat in 19D and the view out was impeccable. I got a clear view out and was able to view the wing up cloase.
In spite of an excellent ground crew at Minneapolis, this plane (Bombardier CRJ-700 V2) has a basic flaw for flights of 900 nautical miles or further (i.e., Minneapolis to Houston, about ): if the flight plan requires additional fuel, it must reduce the number of passengers due to weight. In our instance on April 29, weather required a longer flight plan from Houston to Minneapolis. The crew announced that due to the added weight of fuel, the full plane would have to be reduced by 15 passengers. This occurred while the tanker truck was en route to add fuel to the plane. The delays cause by deplaning and waiting for the fuel truck added more than an hour to departure time. The change in flight plan (longer, hence more fuel needed) resulted in a 2.5 hour flight becoming a 4 hour flight. Needless to say, this caused many missed connections in Houston. In addition, the other comments here are correct: overhead bin space is much less than most commercial jets. I only bring one carry on, a backpack, which fits in United's demonstration carry on stands at the gate. It also fits in the overhead bin on Embraers, other Bombardier/Canada Jets, Airbus, Boeing, etc., even the Saabs on Caribbean routes. But not on this plane. This flight is about 908 miles "as the crow flies". After following the vectors in the flight plan it's somewhat longer. United, rationally, is trying to use this equipment to save fuel and reduce the cost per mile/per passenger. But United, irrationally, is using a plane for this route that cannot carry both a full fuel load and a full passenger load in the event of a changed flight plan. Avoid this plane entirely if you can if the flight is close to 1000 miles. Make note of the plane used when you look for reservations. I will be flying the same plane to Denver tomorrow (about 608 nautical miles), but the lack of overhead bin space will cause me to avoid the United routes that use this plane. Other than that, the comments here are generally correct, but I would just expect cramped seating, and try to avoid it on flights more than 60 - 90 minutes. That's just the economics of the air travel industry at the moment. Again, the ground crew, and United's employees in general, have been very good. But this particular plane on routes like this will drive flyers of longer distances to other airlines.
Personally I felt like I had plenty of leg room on this flight. It wasn't full but I felt comfortable.
The CRJ-700 have comfortable First Class seats but they are the seats that are the farthest from the restrooms. This makes it an issue when the plane is full on a long flight and a line starts forming in the back plus you have to maneuver the serving cart along the way.
This flight(LAX to SAT) is a stretch for the comfort this aircraft affords. Economy Plus is a expensive joke. Other than additional legroom, the narrow cabin presses one against the wall of the aircraft if the occupant has a window seat.
Just flew this plane on a round trip between CMH and IAD. My chief complaints are pretty much the same. The seat has zero cushion and the way the seats are setup especially in 19 and 20 (where I was) you are between two windows with nothing to see out, I found this less than enjoyable. Other than that, I didn't have too many other issues with the aircraft. Granted I was only on it for a very short flight (45 min barely enough time to even drink a beverage).
6/12/15, IAD -> DAY. Economy Plus legroom was wonderful. As others have noted, Economy seats on this plane are somewhat lacking in padding ... my butt was sore after only an hour-plus flight. While moving the magazine and safety card to a slot above the tray theoretically makes more space for personal items in the pocket underneath, on this plane the pocket is so small I could barely stash my phone and a bottle of water. Window was a little far forward for optimal visibility.
