Seat was ok but not very comfortable when lying down. Toilets were shared with premium economy. There should have been toilets for upper class only. People from premium economy were coming in to use the bar. Nowhere near as good as emirates
Beware, for those who LOVE to look out of the window, the window is not aligned to the seat. My partner who sat next to me in the middle seat had a better window view! You have to lean forward to see outside. Apart from the window, I enjoyed this seat. Good leg space, not too close to the toilets and well catered for. Good atmosphere, not too noisy very good balance unlike party/rowdiness at the back of the plane lol.
First time flyer so let's go in style.. Flew in the bubble on a premium ticket. Excellent no faults at all and Adie and Andrea were my cabin crew team and did an excellent job.. If you get chance fly the bubble premium.. The 747 400 jumbo was called Ruby Tuesday and it was a virgin holiday package to see the new year in in Times Sq New York
First time on Virgin Atlantic excellent service will definitely fly with you again keep the great service excellent standards thank you
Chose to fly this route on 747 (Ruby Tuesday) for nostalgic reasons as opposed to a newer aircraft out of Heathrow but regretted the decision pretty quickly. Delta/Virgin still using the small Escape Plus lounge at MAN so you lose out on the Virgin Clubhouse experience or will until at least Spring 2020 when I believe the new Delta/Virgin clubhouse will open at Ringway. 747 Cabin is looking and feeling old although it was nice to be one of only 14 Upper Class passengers on board. My seat had an issue with reclining smoothly but it was not a big enough issue to complain about. Steward told me that they may not retire the 747s next year as planned following earlier reprieve due to extra passenger volume caused by collapse of Thomas Cook. If they are kept in service they should be refurbed IMHO. Received the usual fantastic service from Virgin cabin crew but that was offset by the absence of access to free Gogo WiFi via T-Mobile phone plan. Apparently only available on newer aircraft. Last time on this aircraft for me I think unless they are modernized.
Although all the premium economy seats are comfortable and the service excelent. if you are tall (anything above 6ft) and the person infront reclines the seat. 2 things will happen. Your knees will likely get squashed and the enterainment system becomes unuseable. The poor viewing angle of the screen means that although it tilts in the seat back, after the seat is reclined it doesnt tilt enough to be anything other than a dark mess.
Sat here with my family on Row 37 DEFG and despite reading negative comments, this seat row is excellent choice.Seat reclines back 6-8 inches and because of bulkhead behind , you’re not disturbing fellow passengers. Also because of bulkhead, nobody is pressing on tv screen behind you searching for movies/music etc.
The service on the flight could not be faulted, the seats however.... We paid for the Economy Delight for extra leg room which was great, however, the seats were really narrow. I was sat in the middle of a row of 3 and my partner is 6ft and sat by the window and then a large american guy sat next to me. I spent the whole flight uncomfortable and struggled to eat the meals as I couldn't put my arms at my side. I also couldn't sit straight on as there was so little room i had to sit slightly side on. I was really disappointed as I have had more room on a Jet2 Short haul.
The good: You have unlimited leg room for your right leg. The bad. There is an entertainment box underneath the in front of you that does not allow a carry on bag to be stowed. Overall Virgin offers friendly service, plenty to watch, and tasty meals. The meal and beverage portions seemed small. IE 5 ounce cups. The hot meal portion was smaller than my hand. A roll or a salad. The pudding was about 2 ounces worth. I was impressed by the frequent beverage runs but disappointed there was no ice cream offered mid-flight. Seat comfort and leg room was ok for an economy seat
We had premium ecomomy 24A and 24C. Both very good seats as there is no issue with reclining as there is a gap between you and economy with an emergency exit. Very good seat. But getting off takes slightly longer
For couples 6A and 6K are the best seats - you are across from each other but it is more difficult to talk to if you are on the same side. Seating looks a little dated now but service was very good. unfortunately the IFE didn't work in Upper on that flight - no sound - so eventually just before dinner service those of us who asked were given small IPADs but they have a very limited selection -- hence the poor review for that section. However as ever the crew were lovely.
Service was acceptable , no complaints , however food choices not good , staff were friendly and helpful; however the plane was not very well cleaned .
Premium brilliant but the plane tinkerbell was out of date
A great location next to the window. There is a shelf and storage compartment between the seat and window allowing you to store extra stuff. It also allowed me to spread out with extra items when the fold-down tray in front became full. Overall I would always choose a window seat upstairs just for the extra space it affords.
The location was fantastic. The seat fully reclined and there was no worry about annoying anyone behind, as it was the last row. I was worried about noise or draughts up from the stairs, but these proven to be unfounded. Sitting upstairs was a great choice and it felt more premium with the attentive stewards.
The leg room is really poor due to the location of the main door. It does provide more space between your knee and a normal seat but stretching legs is difficult.
Tinker bell on the way out which I understand will be decommissioned this October it was dated especially the entertainment system Way back was a Newer plane hot lips this was far better
I've been traveling for decades, I don't remember ever sitting at a noisiest seat. There was a deafening noise from some sort of ventilation right above me, so loud I could not hear the engines over it! The stewardesses could not understand what I was telling them, although I managed to get them to understand I needed earplugs and they brought me some. I have no idea if there was something wrong or that seat is like that - it was a summer trip so the ventilation was probably at maximum. If I moved to the seat next to me the noise died down significantly...
I flew to and from Orlando in this seat. The toilets were a real issue for me as we were only 3 rows away from them and people queued along the aisle for most of the flight. Because we were in Premium class I felt like an exhibit with people coming from economy to see what it was like in premium. If you are going premium go downstairs. On the flight back the person in front of me fully reclined during take off and refused to put his seat up for the whole flight. This meant no leg room and it was nearly impossible without some serious gymnastics to get out of the seat. My friend on the window seat was stuck there for the entire flight. Not value for money in my opinion. Save your money for your hols.
While flying from india, there must be an option for bollywood movies/music. Otherwise it is very boring in such a long duration flight. Moreover the entertainment systems are outdated n needs to be replaced.
