Late Jan. took a trip. things with covid-19 were just starting in China so spoke with C.E. to email me if return flight has changes.Flight over good in Shanghia all masks and gloves I have my Bandana mask.A month later getting ready to return covid-19 matters have changed but no emails from C.E. I go to airport. At counter I am told flight is canceled but I can get redeye flight at midnight.Decided to stay the 12 hours at airport after getting new ticket. At checkin I am told by Mr.Jin Yin I could not go with no room booked in China I would have a 4 day lay over and 2 week quarantine at LAX. I tell Mr.Jin Yin I found none of that on internet before going to airport and no way to 4 days in China ;he gives me C.E. card for office in town were I return to.Next morning call office lady says do not listen to then at airport go to office and get ticket for midnight flight. In room find wallet gone but passport there.Get ticket and beg ride to airport because know broke.Return flight water and crackers to China only.8hour layover cold and hungry.Flight to L.A. fast good food and put in coach which is empty. At LAX wonder if luggage would be there after snide remarks from C.E. people" was it missing"?
I had a pretty normal flight on Eastern during coronavirus. Now domestic meals are only in prepackaged boxes, unlike China Southern which is still serving hot meals. Very simple box: some yogurt, some bread, and some vegetables.
Everything was very smooth. My fears of additional checks and delays due to COVID-related measures did not materialise. The service was very good an efficient, considering just a 2hr flight. The inflight snack was actually very very good. The first leg of the trip coming out of PEK to SHA was on Air China (also a good experience), but somehow I would prefer MU (for the interior of the aircraft, snack and overall impression).
We were due to fly out on the 2nd August, and as our travel agent was not helpful at all, china eastern airlines were brilliant. They actually rang me up and told me everything that u didn't know about, as travel trolley did not inform me about anything. Told me how to get my money back as flights were changed etc.
I had an economy middle seat on the flight from Ningbo (NGB) to Beijing (PEK). Cabin crew staff members were friendly and helpful on the 2-hour 20-minute flight.
They cancell your flight when the occupancy is below 50% and call it "public security reasons" so they don't need to change your ticket to another code-sharing flight. Your only choice is to buy another tickets with much higher price. And it's happening not only on me. It's happening everyday with this dishonest airline. Plus, they don't even provide soft drinks to business class passanger. All you got is a smelly sandwich and choice of tea/coffee (bad quality for sure). And the complaints? Never a call to you, only copy& paste text with no solutions. AVOID at all cost.
Singapore to Shanghai Pudong return in December 2019. Refurbished A330-300 was used where business class seats were new with direct aisle access. Warm and kind service given by the crew, better than many five-star airlines. The areas they should improve on is catering and IFE. Meal standards are below average for business class, with no western meal option. The Business and First Class lounge at Shanghai Pudong Airport was very nice but again with only Chinese meal options. IFE was limited but acceptable for a five-hour flight. Overall though, for the price I paid, it's certainly value for money.
The website experience was poor, I was always worried that I didn't have the correct information, as I couldn't see my flight information online. Trying to book the Limo service was complicated. You need to be very on the ball when using there website. The food was not good at all, and even in business class they stopped serving drinks. I got one drink and then they said I had too many. One drink !!
When they cancelled the flight, they told me on the phone I would get a refund. Months have gone by and now they don't answer the phone and still haven't given the refund. We all understand it's a chaotic time so I can understand not being able to answer the phones right now, but they already did tell me they would refund me. Over 2 months have passed and still no refund.
The airlines cancelled our flights Vancouver to Shanghai, Shanghai to Tokyo. Understandable BUT they refuse to give a refund and the travel vouchers are ridiculous. It appears we have to use these vouchers before travel bans will likely be lifted.
I had bought a brand new duffle bag in Osaka and I found it badly damaged when I arrived in London. It took many emails to get assistance from them since they said they were not receiving any of my emails and in the end they said that the damage of the bag was normal "wear and tear" when clearly it was not. Not recommended.
Okay, so it’s not exactly Emirates but I got flights from London to Auckland for more than half the price! Pros: business class was as good as anything I ve previously used (including Emirates!); Service was exception; Business lounges were spacious and comfortable; Wine is served during flights! Price!!! Cons: Some of the aircraft are slightly older than others; The western food choice during flight times is slightly odd, but still enjoyable; Food served in the business lounges in Shanghai (used as a central hub on long haul flights) isn’t great! Would I used China Eastern Airlines again? Definitely!!
Wanting a direct flight from Shanghai to Honolulu we were left with no choice but to book with China Eastern. We flew To Shanghai and simply went through the in transit lane. Boarding the plane to Honolulu was on time but quite disorganized; no “by zone” boarding used by most western airlines. Seating was terrible; very very little legroom and very little recline to the seat back. Beverage service soon after takeoff was a joke; Luke warm tea, coffee and Coke. The flight attendants were very rude and unable to answer any questions in English. The Chinese meals served were the most disgusting I have ever hand on an international flight. The washrooms were filthy; urine pools on the floor and used napkins overflowing out of the refuse container. I have travelled numerous long haul flights from Vancouver to China (always with Air Canada) and can honestly say Chiba Eastern isn’t even close to ACs service. The service we have had on Vietnam Airways and Vietjet puts China Eastern to shame. China Eastern should confine itself to the domestic short haul Chinese market where they can easily pass off such shoddy service.
Unfortunately the plane was grotty, only red wine or beer which they ran out of. The staff were rude and TVs not working. I have a nut allergy which I informed them of before the flight and on the flight yet they proceeded to give me a meal with nuts saying it was fine. Luckily I didn't eat it as 15 minutes later they gave me the clearly labelled nut free meal. Wouldn't travel with them again.
In our long trip to China we just took one flight from Xi 'an to Zhangjiajie. It was quite on time and economic! Fortunately stuff were able to solve your problems as well as speaking in English. Every thing was all right and I do recommend flying with them.
Flew China Eastern from Shanghai to Xian, then Chengdu to Shanghai. Cabin and attendants were excellent. Only downside was at each airport (even Shanghai) the air caft was boarded out on the tarmac. Now skyways from the terminal.
A flight in these circumstances says more about the service they provide in general. Staff generally pleasant although distant, two temperature checks during the flight. Limited interaction due to protecting themselves. Space on the flight good. Check in straight forward. Food Chinese centered rather than global food. in flight entertainment plenty but limited in comparison to some other global airlines. Would I fly again with this airline, yes.
There is a significant language barrier that negatively affects the flight. They crew try hard and the plane is just ok. Meals are poor if you’re looking at anything other than Asian foods. Flew Toronto to Shanghai then on to Sydney. Extra long flight, cheapest price, and it got us here.
Best flight in reasonable price! Wonderful meals and unlimited drinks both hard and soft. Cordial service! I strongly recommend!
Boarding was quick and inflight service began immediately. My phone had fallen in the seat pod and crew were eager and happy to help me retrieve it upon arrival in Shanghai
