Both my friend in First class and I in Business class did NOT have a 180 degree layflat seat. I'd guess it is 160 degrees with a 10-20 degree bend in the middle. Very had to get real sleep.
51D, along with the rest of the 2 seat row towards the back of the plane, is a hidden JEWEL of an economy seat, as both this and it's neighbor are aisle seats. Yes, the Korean Air Airbus 330-200 are different from other airlines (where the 50 middle aisle are 3 seats together). This means you and your seat neighbor can both get up without bothering each other (the problem of window/aisle combinations), plus the aise is twice as wide. As usual, as with most other Korean folk, I enjoyed the Korean meal service on Korean Air--the bibimbap option is extra tasty. And the flight attendants are sweet and very attentive.
49F You could be laying through the seat due to mentioned area used to empty for until last check in. Try your luck. If you lucky you can have empty 2~3 extra seat beside you.
I have flown two Korean air business class flights in thelast day, and here is a dirty little secret about Korean's Prestige (business) Class. In spite of all the advertising, and even in comments on seat guru, these seats are NOT 180 degrees flat. they do go flat, but I estimate that they are around 175 degrees. no way are they fullyflat. I tried several different seats on my flights (plane wasn't full). none of them went 180 degrees. when I first looked at pics of Korean's business seats, I wondered to myself , in their configuration, how they could go flat, as they extend in to the seat in front of them. well, the answer is, THEY DON'T GO FULLY FLAT!! this advertising that they are 180 degrees is a flat out lie. Now, they are better than the business seats that go 170 degrees (some JAL business, Air France, the older EVA seats, American). but I wish they wouldn't lie about the degrees. BA, Cathay do go fully flat, so they can advertise as such. Another complaint is the food on these business class flights was shockingly deficient. I've had better food in economy on American--and who would have ever thought THAT possible? Really no courses to speak of...just food in a standard economy style container. What's going on with Korean? I thought they were in the game.
Flex from LAX to Sao Paulo, Brazil (GRU). Service was excellent and prompt by attractive stewardesses, Korean food meals were outstanding, with real metal silverware even in basic economy class. Seat They gave my ten year old daughter a nice stuffed animal too. The best flight from the USA to Brazil or South America in my opinion.
