Food is not up to our expectations and no value buy. Service is bad
The flight was very good in all aspects. The cabin crew were all courteous from the moment we boarded to deplaning. My meals were served hot and was tasty however the sandwich served was very dry I was not impressed. They served water throughout the flight and also had snacks. There was a selection of movies and shows. Although my seat was the last row in the first cabin I was pleasantly surprised it reclined and how much it reclined. There is sufficient legroom for me but if you are taller there would be an issue. The seat width is comparable to other airlines. The 26th row is just in front of the toilets but fortunately I did not have any issues with stench or people lining up to use it perhaps being an overnight flight had something to do with it.
This is a bad seat. The safety exit protrudes into the leg room, there is no window, the TV and tray are not very stable (particularly the tray). The seat belt was short as well compared to other seats. The seat itself didn't seem as wide as others. There are no pockets in front (obviously). This seat should not be classed as an upgrade. If anything, it is the opposite.
The seats are cramped as expected. But what makes it more challenging is the additional fitting that they have added to their food carts from which you cannot escape a bump if you are on an aisle seat. The overhead bins are of the old type which makes it less roomier than newer aircraft.
I travel annually back home to Chicago from Abu Dhabi. Etihad is the logical and only choice for a nonstop flight. I am a tall guy with a knee problem, therefore, trying to sit in a middle seat is out of the question. Since I frequently travel, it has become a nightmare when I am ready to select a seat. I have tried the exit seat after paying extra (AED600 ea. way), but realized it didn't make a difference if someone is sitting next to you; you are still going to be cramped in the seat. on other trips, I selected seat 52K (paid extra ea. way). I selected this seat because the seat in the Plan appeared to have a "space" from the other seat (this is a twin seat row), but to my surprise, the seats were abutted but away from the window, which didn't make any sense to me especially that I paid extra for this not so "preferred" seat! I guess what I am complaining about is the seat width needs to be considered by Etihad especially for long flights such as Chicago; 14hrs outbound and 13.5hrs inbound. My other complaint is the food; since 90% of the passengers are Asians, Etihad should have considerations for those who prefer non-spicy food. In addition, if you choose to sit in the rear by the aisle, it is going to be a bothersome people bumping onto you, service carts and the worse; people queuing waiting to go to restroom especially after meals!
Horrible seats. Narrow seats make every movement in the aisle bump into you from trolleys, passengers to crew serving. Also legroom very limited and even more limited due to space under the seat in front caused by the mounting points of the seat legs. Never flying with Etihad again.
Misaligned window means you can't lean against the wall to sleep. Very old screens and handset didn't work at all. Seat would not recline without pushing very hard.
Narrow and if your around 6ft tall you wont fit.
As a couple who dont want to be bothered by other passengers by being worried about not moving around too much or stretching out these are perfect. You get extra room at the side of you by the wall for storage of bags and under the seats your actually sat on too.
The seat is is considered an "upgrade" but because the emergency exit protrudes into one's space it may not actually be more space. It is also slightly angled towards the wall much like other seats at the end of 777s. Also, there is no window at this seat much like seat 29k.
Big black box underneath the seat in front of me cut the space for my bag and feet by a third. During the "night", I went to the galley to ask flight attendant if they had any nuts or snack, attendant answered abrupt no, and thats that. Emirates airlines at least sets out a basket of snacks for passengers who are awake and needing something to munch on.
The seat cushion was so worn out that it felt like I was sitting on bare metal. For the condition of the cushion it definitely needed to be replaced a few years ago. Not acceptable for a business class seat or even economy for that matter.
The seat and the food is excellent including the entertainment.
read comments on poor seat size found enough room almost identical to emirates im 5f8" 13st no problems obviously less space than airlines who operate 3-3-3 but these tend to charge a premium so i guess you get what you pay for, service on board excellent best of the three middle eastern airlines out of manchester
Have flown busuness and economy on a regular basis for the last year plus. Food is good to very good in business. In flight entertainment in both classes is unreliable and generally tired and well used. Cabin staff very helpful but Etihad, along with similar airlines, really need to look at passenger density. Four across in the middle row is too many. Noisy and unhealthy. Some aircraft sections appear to be often lacking in any effective air conditioning.
I flew Etihad the first time. Plane from Manila to Abu Dhabi was old. My seat was very bad. The cushion was totally worn out and I was sitting on the frame. Crew was very good and the food was ok.
Flew manchester to abu dhabi, abu dhabi to bangkok and back again sitting in the same seats. Far too close to seats in front, not enough leg room,if person in front reclines their seat unable to use tray properly. Crammed in for such long flights is not good especially from worlds leading airline, a shame because food, service and staff are very good. More leg room on budget airlines monsrch and jet2!
Bid to upgrade our economy seats to 11E and 11F at a price of £515 each on top of fare already paid. This gave us access to the Etihad Diamond Business Class at Abu Dhabi, amazing facilities, free spa treatment available and every type of food and drink imaginable. Priority boarding and champagne or any other drink of your choice prior to take off. Food and Beverage Manager came to take food and drink orders for the whole flight. The seats are spacious compared to economy with plenty of legroom. Flat bed option is great is you are under 5ft 8", my husband is 6ft 2" so no good for him. Various seat recline options and in seat massage function. Amenity pack with lip balm and moisturiser, toothbrush and socks plus a very nice quilt and pillow to use during the journey. Entertainment E Box is the same as Economy just a bigger screen. Food service was great, all tasted good and well presented. Would definitely do it again but not worth the normal £2k plus price!! If travelling alone pick the window seats for more privacy, the seats next to each other like ours would be a bit close next to.a stranger!!
Miserable seats. Narrowest seats and worst seat pitch I've ever encountered on a long flight. AUH to Chicago was an ordeal - have never been so happy to exit a plane. Will never again fly with them in this aircraft, unless I can get my weight below 120b and reduce my height to below 5ft 6in. These seats are for children, not adults.
Stay away from the exit row seats closest to the emergency door. The door protrudes into your seating space about 3 inches in front of the seat. You will have to sit at a slant towards the center of the plane (which isn't too comfortable for an average sized person)
