I'm flying quite often Business Class from Munich to Bangalore via Abu Dhabi. Now for the first time I've got a 787 instead of a 777 and the new seats are a significant improvement compared to those in the 777. For my height of 1,94m the length of the bed is still insufficient and shorter than in Emirates or Qatar, but the unpleasant bumps and hard spots of the 777 seats have gone and the adjustable softnes is great. I also had the impression that the seats are a little wider than before.
our return trip from abu dhabi we bid for neighbour free seat so my wife and myself had the three middle seats ,great option as seats on this aircraft type are tight. row 28 close to toilets which were very busy with often ques . further from toilets would be better a better option.
Manchester to Melbourne EY22 and EY462: 7hours and 14 hours! These seats are NOT fit for purpose. Pray you don't have an obese neighbour, but the seat width is no worse than other fleets. Unfortunately this standard appears to be the default: it's past time we were offered an option of a few rows at 8 across as designed by Boeing originally. Paying a premium of one ninth extra would not deter significant numbers. The main problem BY FAR is the seat design - it's far too hard, and lacks adequate support under the legs, creating pressure points under the buttocks. Painful for the 7 hours, excruciating for 14! Note re earlier complaint on headrest - it can be moved up to suit tall frames, so should not be an issue digging into your back. Shame the folding wings have gone, though. As a devotee of sudoku to ease the hours away, the version on this plane is rubbish - bring back the 777! Overall, will definitely seek other options next time, despite accumulated air miles.
This was our 4th flight in 3 weeks with Etihad and it provided the same excellent experience as the previous three. I found the legroom in the seat perfectly acceptable and I'm 6'2" with a 34" leg measurement so if I can feel comfortable then most other people should be able to be as well. The seats are a little firm but I didn't find this a problem on the 7hr 40min flight. Cabin crew were excellent, food was really good and the drinks service was generous. We've flown with all the UAE airlines plus Cathay, Singapore and BA and Eitihad are just as good. Having experienced these 4 flights we are a bit surprised about the number of negative reviews that we read on Seat Guru prior to our departure and wonder whether recent improvements have ben made. Our experience was very positive, we wouldn't hesitate to fly with Etihad again and felt the need to put reviews on this site in order to balance things up a bit.
Flew in this seat from Bangkok to Abu Dhabi on 08/10/19. This was our 3rd flight of our trip with Etihad and our experience was very positive. I'm 6'2" and weigh 12st, I have long legs and found the seat perfectly comfortable with sufficient legroom for me to be comfortable for the entire journey. We had read a number of pretty negative reviews about both Etihad and this plane but our experience was excellent. Cabin crew were very friendly, attentive and generous with their drinks service. The food was excellent, served promptly and cleared away quickly. We found all our flights with Etihad to be very positive experiences and wouldnt hesitate to book with them again.
Prior to flying for the first time with Etihad on a Dreamliner my wife and I looked at the comments on seat guru and were pretty worried by all the negative feedback that we read. After flying to Bangkok via Abu Dhabi we are left wondering whether we flew on the same plane with the same airline as our experience was almost entirely positive. I'm 6'2" and weigh around 12st so I'm tall bit fairly trim. I had absolutely no problem with either the legroom or the seat width and found the seating pretty comparable to all the other airline who I've flown with - Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific and B.A. The only criticism I'd make of the seat is that there was a bar that ran across the seat at mid back height which could be felt through the back cushion. Use of the pillow solved this. The seats were a little bit firm but not uncomfortable. Our flight was 7hrs 40 mins. The cabin crew were excellent, friendly, attentive and they worked non stop as the plane was full. Food was excellent and drinks were generous. We got off the plane wondering whether we had just had a lucky experience, however our following 3 flights proved that our experience was the norm and not just a one off. All our flights were very good indeed.
The seat itself is quite new and comfortable. It is a shame you can't control each individual window's darkness. The seat would be more comfortable in bed mode if they provide a thin mattress. The table is big, sturdy and won't get in the way of getting out of the seat, which is hard to find these days.
I flew Business Class on Etihad flight EY484 from Abu Dhabi to Brisbane [12th March 2019]. The Business Class experience with Etihad was extremely poor and stressful. The cabin crew were less than helpful. The cabin manager introduced herself but gave no advice on how to operate the seat or any of its features especially as the seat mechanism was different to business class seats on other airlines. The flight departed late in the day from Abu Dhabi and so the cabin crew were serving meals virtually from the time the aircraft left the ground but I was kept waiting for my first course until the crew was dimming lights and putting everyone to sleep. The steak was uncooked and blood oozing from the meat was turning the potato dish pink. I tried to contact the cabin crew but they said they were too busy and would come back to me later but they did not. I persisted as I was hungry and when I complained I was told that chocolate ice cream only was available which basically was my dinner that night as everything else had gone. I wasn’t given any other food until breakfast was served. I was unfamiliar with the mechanism for turning this type of seat into a bed - the upholstery was so hard that I got virtually no sleep. I complained to Etihad and received a unsympathetic reply. My purpose in writing this review is to warn other passengers who may want to fly with this airline that they should brace themselves for some very poor service.
During flight I was able to buy this location. The proximity to the lavatory isn't such a big problem.
With my 1.96m this seat is absolutely dismal, like every other seat in economy class. My left knee was on the same level as the armrest hinge of the seat in front of me. My friend who is 1.88 could just fit, with 1 inch to spare.
First window seat for business class with a small kitchen gallery for drinks in front and the crew quarters and toilet on the other side.. One seat only on the windows staggered. Not as close to the window as the even numbered seats. Having no one in front allow for extra storage space throughout the 14 hour flight on the benches. Lots of privacy from neighbours.
Flew Brisbane to Dhabi, first time in business class. Food was excellent, you can choose what you want and specify what time you want to eat, it arrived exactly the time I asked for. Movies a bit disappointing, not as much variety as Emirates or Cathay. Seat has a firmness control which seems to keep adjusting my occasionally pumping extra air into it. Cabin crew tried to reset it but it kept happening, so they gave me an extra blanket. In bed mode it was fine and plenty of room to stretch out and sleep. Crew very friendly and attentive.
Whoever thought that this seat design suited a "normal" person is having a lend of themselves. Even in a normal seated position, my knees were digging into the seat in front. On a 14 hour flight, the ability to even be remotely comfortable is but a dream.
A half of business class seats of Etihad is backward facing seat. 5H is backward facing seat with inside side table. So it is very difficult to take photos outside. Anyway the seat is very comfortable and backward facing is not a troublesome for pleasant travel.
This seat is very uncomfortable. In general the available space is extremely crampt. I normally fly KLM and the difference in space between these two airlines is like night and day, KLM wins hands down every time. Etihad conjures this image of luxury and the best that there is but in truth is one of the worst I have ever flown with, cannot even touch the Asian airline companies. Stewardesses are from many foreign countries and had difficulty understanding their English.
Bit of an unpleasant experience for business class. Very hard seat, gap for entry exit ridiculously small, bed does not completely recline and is too narrow to turn comfortably in. For people with any physical impairment or just aged not at all good. Very unpleasant flight. Loved Abu Dhabi but not sure I could endure another flight with this airline.
Economy aisle seat with fixed solid head rest on aisle side only of seat is not suitable for tall people. I'm 6'5" and this immovable hard object poked into my back for the whole trip. This was the most uncomfortable trip I've had recently and I will not fly Etihad economy on this route again.
Seat firmness can be adjusted to what is comfortable for the passenger. Great seat, very comfortable and slept for 5 hours straight easily. Service and food was great. Proximity to the galley wasn't bothersome at all, hardly even noticed.
