This is a bad seat for a night flight. Stewardesses gaggle in the galley and gab loudly, plus the lights from the galley shine directly on this seat, making it very bright. If you are not trying to sleep the seat is ok.
Personally, I think it's strange to have airline passenger seats facing backwards. From seat 3B you can definitely see the people in seats 3DEFG, which I find disconcerting. Also, when people go through the curtain behind seats 4B to go to the lavatory or galley, the light from the open lavatory or galley shines down the aisle. I don't see any advantages to having seats 3AB (and others) facing backward, and will not willingly want such seats in the future.
Unlimited legroom for this exit row seat, but the seat width is narrow, and compromised even more by the curvature of the fuselage. I sat through the flight with my torso twisted to the left to avoid bumping shoulders with my seat mate in 39K (who was being crushed by the passenger in 39J). There is very limited access to a window, but most of the window opens to row 40. Lavatory proximity was not terrible because of the large exit door area, but the usual cautions about traffic/odor apply.
This seat should be green. It's obviously great for parties of two. But you can also place any carry-on items under seat 47C and have tons of leg room. You also have a huge aisle next to you and carts and other passengers go far to the right to go around 47C, so this seat is completely undisturbed and spacious. It is better than an economy plus seat and it's no extra charge. My wife hates to fly and was dreading our 4.5 hour flight from OGG to SFO. But she couldn't stop thanking me for booking this seat.
My wife and I flew from EWR to DUB on May 15, 2019. Service was excellent and food was very acceptable. My only complaint was that the middle armrest was very narrow and had no divider; thus if you are flying alone you will probably rub elbows more than once with a stranger. In addition while in the full recline mode the person occupying seat 3A will have to climb over you in order to utilize the restroom, etc. The Polaris seats on the return flight, a 757-200 at least had a small divider on the middle armrest. Good selection of movies and other video products. Flight was right on time.
Had pillows on my business class trip from IAH to HNL and back. Have not seen pillows passed out on other widebody flights from IAH to cities in the continental USA.
12 of the 28 seats face backwards, including 3k. No problem for me, but some may not like. Pros: Plenty of leg room. Blankets and pillows at every seat (unlike all business flights from IAH to other domestic airports). Better food than on mainland flights. IFE had a good selection of movies. Cons: For most people, this is the worse of United's three variations of flat bed business class seats. Seat is narrow. Not much space for placing items. You face the person across the aisle, which has a forward facing seat.
though this is a bulkhead seat by the emergency exit, it still has a window.
Seats 47 J/K/L have non moveable armrests Should be all indicated as below average seats. The only advantage is that they are padded.
Rows 48,49, and 50 along the side (A,B,K,L) have extra room at the aisle and right next to the window due to the curvature of the plane. I got extra space by releasing the armrest (the rear part of the armrest has the release). Seats are still standard economy so still narrow and cramped, but I recommend these over the rest of the standard economy seats. Advise seats A&B over K&L since the lavatory is on the K&L side. Long 9 hour flight from Chicago to Honolulu, but at least these flight attendants were happy and helpful.
This is a very good seat, the lie flat is extremely helpful for the redeye flight from Honolulu to Chicago. Plenty of space all around. The headrest is attached so there may be some lumps when you try to sleep, but a minor issue. Saks Fifth Avenue pillow and blanket provided are very plush and nice. There is a video screen so you don't have to bring your own. Headphones provided are adequate though I preferred my own. Food was okay, salmon or chicken, but also lukewarm. Unfortunately my return flight in the same plane was in Economy.
Then entire economy section on this configuration should be colored yellow or red now that uNited has crammed an additional 10th seat in the row across in the 777 airframe. There are no good seats, there are no acceptable seats. I am 6'1/155 lbs, and I am technically too wide to fit into the seat under United's guidelines without buying a second seat as my shoulders encroach into the area of the seat next to me. The guy next to me was no larger than. am and we were crammed in next to each other. I do not know what the execs at United were thinking other than profits when they decided to add an extra seat to each row. But obviously as execs, they do not have to sit in the back.
HNL-SFO I was a little apprehensive boarding one of the oldest 777 in existence (23 yo) especially flying from Hawaii to the West Coast but I must say it didn't really show it's age. Business seat was pretty good, a bit narrow but very comfortable, flat and facing forward! good entertainment system, great service from the UA crew.
This one should be marked green. Extra legroom and extra under-seat storage due to curvature of plane and being the first row of 2.
Horrible seat configuration as there's 10 seats across which means each seat is narrow and no shoulder room and this was in both economy plus and economy! I'm of average build and while I fit in the seat it was very narrow. The worse part is I bumped shoulders with the person next to me the entire flight because there just isn't enough room between seats. The armrests are also just 1.5 inches wide so no place to put your arms. The best seats are the ones that are only two across because there's a little more room. United should at least make economy plus 9 across to make it bearable. They definitely don't have customer comfort in mind.
The 10 across config is horrible as they crammed the max amount of seats so you have no shoulder room and the seats are narrow. Seat 39A/B are only two across though so you can hang over a bit into the aisle or window to gain a little space. Seats are still narrow though. Legroom is great although 39A is against the door which portrudes a little but its not too bad. I'm 6 feet and could comfortably extend my legs. I think this is the best row in all of economy due to the leg room and being only two across. Some other things to note, there's only one charging outlet and its located under 39A so if you're in 39B the 39A passenger might not like your charger under their leg. Also 39A has a small pocket on the wall for the usual magazine/safety items but it would hold your tablet and phone which is nice. Bin space is limited to a small bin above the seat, enough for a backpack or 2 but not for a rollaway. There are other bins nearby if they're not taken. There's also no storage from the seat in front of you so everything must go in the bin.
The emergency exit door protrudes significantly outward, making it essentially a bulkhead which limits the legroom. I assume this is the same on the other side of the plane. While flying a 777 domestically or Hawaii might sound sexy, this is actually a terrible plane to fly for comfort. The 10-abreast economy ensures you bump shoulders with your neighbor.
I'd expect this "high density" nonsense from a budget carrier, but the lack of seatback screens (despite the large electric/electronic box that limits underseat legroom) combined with the 1.2"/3.05cm reduction in width (which feels more) makes this one an a/c to be avoided
I had this seat from Newark (EWR) and San Francisco (SFO). The plane was completely full. So with 10 across seating everyone was pretty miserable. I chose this seat thinking the extra leg room would help. In stead I spent the 5 1/2 hours jocking for a position with the overweight person sitting next to me. Also, note that this row does not have in-seat entertainment. And since the wifi wasn't working, the only option was to watch the clouds go by...slowly. I won't be flying a 777 with 10 abreast again.
I would not recommend seat 4A due to its close proximity to the galley and the main cabin. The flight attendants hang out in the galley talking most of the flight and leave the bright galley lights on which shine down directly on your seat. Passengers in the main cabin also linger in the area waiting on the bathroom located directly behind your seat.
